Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Miffed

I am quite sure I was the first, in August 2008, to point out and establish that 1st Sgt. Hatley, recently convicted for murdering innocent Iraqis, was the same person that slandered Scott Thomas Beauchamp, who anonymously wrote about that and other incidents for TNR.

Today Attaturk at Echaton as well as Josh Marshall at TPM post about that connection. No link for MoA though even when it is pretty obvious that this was picked from MoA by those who now run with it.

That might tell a bit about the big wigs in the blogsphere …

don’t be too miffed b, anyone following all the links will find you eventually. they should have credited you by name tho, for sure.
For his reporting, Goldfarb relied on some…let’s call them ‘questionable’ sources and even got an assist, in a bizarre breach of protocol, from Beauchamp’s First Sergeant, who took to the blogosphere to make the case against the beleaguered Private. “My soldiers [sic] conduct is consistently honorable.”

This soldier has other underlining [sic] issues which I’m sure will come out in the course of the investigation. No one at any of the post we live at or frequent, remotely fit the descriptions of any of the persons depicted in this young man’s fairy tale. I can’t and won’t divulge any information regarding this soldier, but I do sincerely appreciate all the support from the people back home. Again, this young man has a vivid imagination and I promise you that this by no means reflects the truth of what is happening here.

I think both those blogs are linking to Balloon Juice who clearly explains you were the one.
The detailed post on TPM is Sergeant Who Smeared Fellow Soldier, New Republic Writer Executed Four Iraqi Men | TPMMuckraker and is linking to you.

As long as big wigs of the oiligoverse are linking to MoA:
http://www.theoildrum.com/files/brookings%20vehicle%20miles%20per%20capita_0.png
Which should put obfuscation and talibanation on both “peak oil” and “Cap&Trade”.
There is zero correlation between price of oil and vehicle miles (MPGs) per capita.
How dare they raise another tax for revenues solely to create a new C&T tax agency?!
They should expat Al Gore to Peshawar, and let him peddle his magic carpets there.

There is some vindication-by-association in discovering that the main ‘blog I read is (with some frequency) sourcier than the bigwigs.

I remember reading about this here last August. You may be miffed, but I’m impressed.

not according to that graph you linked to. do you see that high spike in 05 that represents the first time prices went over $3.00 in the chart? notice from that time onward the VMT per capita started taking a dive, and appears to be getting worse.

dont worry b, I’m one of them people who came to your site (and became an avid reader as a result) when I followed some links in the blogosphere to your site.

The ‘correlation’ between price of gas and kms. driven in the US is not a mirage. Correlations are tricky, and this kind of data is particularly messy (e.g. seasonality, different prices in different regions, sampling, etc.) so plenty of quibbles are possible. I feel it is better to postulate, and then test for, causation, which will involve thresholds: “When the price of gas rises ppl will try to save on gas.” I think that statement would turn out to have plenty of solid numerical support, as the article in the oil drum makes clear.

Slandered? Nice try, no dice.
The frothing moonbats will see this as ‘vindication’ for Beauchamp’s wild-assed tales, (picking on disfigured women, wearing a child’s skull on his head or running over dogs with a Bradley) even though he fully admitted he lied.(http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=545) (http://sfcmac.wordpress.com/2008/08/23/the-last-gasp-of-the-new-republics-man-in-iraq/)
His behavior was a disgrace and in no way reflected on the bravery, dedication, and honor of his unit. Beauchamp was and is a punk. His recant came after he succeeded in feeding maws of the anti-military/anti-war moonbats. I also had correspondence with Major Kirk Luedeke, the Public Relations Officer, who explained Beauchamp’s antics in detail.
1SG Hatley’s squad did not go into a village and select unarmed civilians for a summary execution. They chased down four armed terrorists who fired at them; capturing them as well as finding their weapons cache. In retrospect, they should have saved themselves the trouble and killed them on the spot.
