Had a crossing like that once over the North Sea in the summer of 2005, gale force 8. I was at the front of the ship, watching the prow disappear. Rest of the family was busy losing lunch…

you know what i think is hilarious? the name. balmoral… in french? bas le moral. translated it means:
bas (silent “s”): low
le: the
moral: morale
morale is low for sure for the folks who were on that boat.

In the Wikipedia article on the Balmoral, there is mention of adding a 30m mid-section but I don’t see how they got from this to this. Damn cunning those German engineers!
