“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”

annie,
It is free money. In fact its negative money since the CPI was 4.1 % last year.Your interest account is going backwords on your CD.
I liked Edwards. I don’t like HRC, especially during the SOTU applauding the “surge.” This country is headed in the wrong direction and no-one knows how to stop it. The Freidmanites have captured economic policy and the dogma will not stop. HRCs DLC friends will not let the country address the poor, job losses etc, like Edwards “talked” about.
I have a little more faith in Obama than HRC. Obama has a very liberal record in most instances. However, he is running for president so he plays to conventional wisdom. If he didn’t he would be labled a Jesse Jackson, just like Bill Clinton invoked last week and wouldn’t have a chance.
The current system must fall before it can be cured. And we are on our way.

A volte uno sguardo vale più di una semplice
parola, di una parola che non riusciamo a dire.

John McCain — Date of Birth: 29 August 1936
Age at Inauguration – 73 years and 4 months
Actuary Odds of Surviving Two Terms in Office
2009 73 0.037855 0.962145 –
2010 74 0.041397 0.958603 0.922315083
2011 75 0.045443 0.954557 0.915041204
2012 76 0.049973 0.950027 0.906854923
2013 77 0.054805 0.945195 0.89796077
2014 78 0.059912 0.940088 0.888566477
2015 79 0.065457 0.934543 0.87855266
2016 80 0.071687 0.928313 0.867548416
ODDS McCAIN DIES IN OFFICE 7.5%
CHANCE OF DRAWING A RANDOM ACE 7.7%
PREDICTED END OF (PEAK) OIL 2010
PREDICTED END OF AMERICAN DREAM 2011
(MAYAN) PREDICTED END OF WORLD 2012
Ergo, your odds are better of winning in Vegas,
than of avoiding Final Apocalypse under McCain.

“Skyllarry Clinton and Baracharybdis Obama”
How about “Pillory Flintstone” and “Bulimo Charisma”?
Edwards gave something like honesty to the selection process, so maybe it’s cool he drops out now after the primary which supposedly didn’t matter.
Jeeze, something like 2% of the population with the help of the media and eminences in the two parties select who can be chosen to have more power than ten times ten caesars — now I understand why Bush has been so hip on “spreading democracy and freedom”.
Very much on the other hand though, I note that the number of people voting in these primaries, especially the young, has been, by American standards, quite large. I recall the Leonard Cohen line, “Democracy is coming…it’s coming to America first, the home of the best and the worse…”

The Democratic Primary is mostly a joke on the voters.
Voters don’t choose the 842 unpledged “super-delegates” who comprise nearly 40 percent of the number of delegates needed.
