Well, I jumped the gun in an email but I’ll say it again:
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
is the bar open?

keep up the good work

Happy Birthday MoA. Thanx Bernhard for providing this portal to the world of sane people, for what seems to me longer than 3 years.

Posted by: Juan Moment | Jun 30 2007 16:09 utc | 4

congrats b & everyone!
this year we all should really make the effort to contribute more threads & take some of the pressure off of our excellent host. make MoA a hybrid linktank/thinktank force on the web. you know we have it in us.

Three cheers, singing and clapping, hugs and kisses, for Bernhard.
Pop! The champagne for all. Cranberry juice and hot chocolate are also available.
I also had the impression it was more than 3 years..

Respite in these times of darkness. Thanks, everyone — especially you, B.

merci b & everybody else with all my heart (the parts stilll working)
you are a family to me & no less real because we meet telegraphically & am touched
b, you & this community have been particularly helpful to me & the remerciement will rest substantial
you have been helpful in the obvious things but you have also been an underpinning in the tangential moments – i will give one example – i wrote about nietzsche & the horse’s head & i elaborated on that for a public speech celebrating but confronting the work i do in the men’s shelter
people spoke of the rare power with which i spoke & connect it to the heart attack 12 hours later but i perfer to think that it is here at moon – as in my poems i am able to work both the public & intimate space at the same time
& that i receive that from others
the cold hard facts but also the human heart that feeds & enlightens them
some days as we used to say it’s such a drag – to be concious, so conscious of this world gone wrong but this community reminds me of the necessity to combat under any condition
& it has helped me fight the consensus which are corrupt
i give thanks for these three years
& here’s to you b & i once thought i had just come here for the waters

Happy birthday Moon, and many more… I recall being present at the “birth” – I remember how happy I was that you managed to replicate the look and feel of the Whiskey Bar, which I had grown so used to. And Bernhard, your growth in posting and writing in English in just 3 years has been spectacular. Although I’ve come and gone periodically over the 3 years, I never fail to find information here worth knowing and company well worth keeping. Thanks for everything you do — it’s wonderful to have this space in which to express oneself in a way that few other forums in the US would make room for.
Now in honor of the Moon’s birthday, how about if some other lurkers join drunk as a rule and come out of the woodwork to say hello? We know you’re out there… don’t hold back.
Champagne for everyone in the house on me. And let’s drink to r’giap’s continued recovery as well.
Cheers.

Thanks for the site, B.
It has been like a lifeline for me. Although I don’t have the intellectual power of the main posters I can still understand most of the posts and it is very comforting to read people posting many of my thoughts.
Tipping my hat to B and ALL the great posters here!!

many happy returns to three-year-old Moon of A, from your ten-month-old friend Missing Links !

Posted by: Badger | Jun 30 2007 20:50 utc | 18

As others have too noticed, the three years have seemed like a lot longer than that. In a world so marked by “time flies”(good time or not) this in itself may be our own little secret anti-entropy anchor against the passage of time — and worth the effort for that effect alone (ha ha). Many thanks to b for his tireless efforts and political acumen, which just gets better and better. And to those among us, uncle, b real, bea, & others that put in research hours and vital links on a regular basis. And to those, like myself, putting in what they can when they can. As it all adds up (for me at least) a worthy home sweet home here on the web.
Happy b Day!!!

Bravo, b, and bravi tutti for a good, strong bar!

Happy Birthday Moon of Alabama!
I raise my glass of champagne to B in a toast of thanks and to everyone here.
Hey the champagne will go farther if you mix it with Vodka – I think that’s called a “French 75” 2 parts champagne, 1 part Vodka.
And good to see r’giap here too.

thank you much B and all of you for making life more bearable and to r’giap for comimng back ….

MoA is the place in cyberspace to find sane, reasonable, cogent comments… not to mention warm and funny ones! Uncle’s music and beq’s art…add the icing to the cake…

Birthday greetings to Moon of Alabama! It always feels like family to me here. I care very much for all of you. Special thanks to Bernhard for keeping the Bar open. And thanks to all of the barflies, historians, philosophers, poets, and all those-who-refuse-to-obey who gather at this place. Hi to Malooga. R’giap it’s great that you are back; take care of yourself.
Everyone keep up the good work!

Happy anniversary, and thanks for your great work B.
Glad to hear from old commenters, I hope John Francis Lee would return as well…

Three years huh?? I guess congratulations are in order but it’s extremely frustrating to me that nothing much has changed on the international scene in that time. The killing, plundering and general despoiling of the world goes on. All for the sake of the ‘money changers’. It’s nice to have a place to discuss the reality they have created for us tho.

Posted by: pb | Jul 1 2007 17:40 utc | 36

happy birthday to all the barflies who keep this place going… and of course a humble toast to the host – Bernard!!!! wee, applause, tooting horns, confetti, silly pointed hats, blah, blah, blah 😉
no, as pb notes nothing much has changed… but i feel better knowing ya’ll are out there.

This made me think of Billmon; and of some thread/post where you said you would ask him about getting the archives.
When I read something that makes me think of a classical post, I look for it at the Wayback Machine.

Momentarily de-lurking to congratulate and thank b for running this site. The intellegence and insight displayed by the many regular posters here give me a little bit of hope that we will somehow survive and eventually repair the damage caused by Cheney/Bush.
