it is early in the morning & i have not been dancing but working at the desk that conchita knows & i am witnessing something i have not seen for perhaps 25 years. evangilcal television – god tv – they are hucksters of such exaggerated crudity – they are not one whit different from the mullahs who speak outside the sides of their mouths while their people suffer
it is only in an era as impoverished as our own that such a thing can exist – that the sacred can be pulverised into prayers for the purse
like the empire itself, here is no delicacy in their hucksterism – they have neither charm nor seduction they are like israeli bulldozers crushing & destroying the homes of palestinians
& it is not so strange that these thugs synthesise politically with the worst aspects of the empire – that they use the fear that the empire itself creates & they turn it into profit – they are like any gang of criminals – replacing themselves for the people & harvest hearts while the horror is hollowed out
being a marxist leninist with touches of taoism – their crudity should not surprise me – nor their sub willy loman schtick
it makes me want to dance but i’m not sure what music our b is dancing to
i am even a little dissapointed in al jazeeras bending over backwards to be reasonable – when what the world needs to confront outrage is outrage
& while al jazeera is being reasonable – these huckster appeal to what is the basest in man in his fear
it is enough to turn a peaceful man into a samouraï

Sorry, not in a clubbing or dancing mood of late, it looks like the bar is also somber. The darkness looms. Thanks R’giap for your gifts above. It’s still cold outside here, still winter here. Winter has always been a time of introspection and quite stillness for me. But there are signs spring is near, if only in season, for as Gil Scott-heron sang, it’s been ‘winter in America’ for a long long time.
Guess it’s just the nature of the “World in Which We Live Today”. One must look hard to be grateful sometimes, but, “Long As You’re Living” one must look.
