In passing, where I grew up “fair to middling” was a cotton auctioneers term for a pretty good grade of cotton. When I was a little boy the auctions were carried on a local radio station.

I agree with Billmon here on Weldon’s chances at reelection–I think he’s got a Traficant-like hold over his electorate, who love him because he’s nuts, not in spite of that.
