Fella here has a fixer upper house, a place in need of a long list of repairs.

The drill is always the same in this business -- fix the foundation first, then the roof, then the wiring and plumbing, before you ever worry about the interior.

He calls in the masonry guys; and they tell him they won't fix the foundation until all the asbestos is cleaned out. He calls in the asbestos guys; they won't work until the electricity's up to code. He calls in the electrician; he won't work until the roof stops leaking. He calls in the roofer, and he won't work up on a building with a cracked foundation.

The only contractor willing to work on the place is the drywall guy, and he can start next Wednesday morning.

That's America, a place in need of a complete overhaul, but no one is willing to get to it before they get what they want first.

Except the Democrats. They want to win next Tuesday's election, and start work on cosmetic changes Wednesday morning.

Except they are cosmetic changes, they are drywall and drapes compared to the serious functional and foundational problems we face.

Arthur Silber knows what kind of circus we all have tickets to.

Anifa - love your post. Let me add something from personal experience:

The bank is holding back money unless the asbestos is removed and the mortgage might go in default any time now, bringing down the whole house of cards.
