— all of this angst and noise by the neocon and DC punditocracy highlights the reality of Lieberman’s real identity. This is not about Democrat or Republican as you frequently have pointed out, b — there is only one party and right now, Lamont is what passes for opposition (which makes me feel weak at the knees since I don’t see much real “opposition” there either. I guess those of us who have any interest in saving this sad republic must get used to making lame choices over the criminals currently running the show. I am tempted though to advocate for the old Che’ Guevara method of letting the whole thing fall apart because the system is just too corrupt to fix incrementally?
We are so headed for disaster…..

@Elie – b is not Billmon. b is the shortcut for Bernhard who runs this blog but not Billmon’s Whiskey Bar.
Sounds weird? Some background on this blog is here.

From Kristol’s post:
“The Times also asked which of the following statements comes closer to your view: “The United States should continue to align itself with Israel,” or “The United States should adopt a more neutral posture.” Republicans: 64 percent say align with Israel, 29 percent want a more neutral posture; Democrats: 39 percent say align with Israel, 54 percent want a more neutral posture. So even with a centrist Israeli government that is responding to a direct attack and not defending settlements in the territories, Democrats have adopted a “European” attitude toward Israel.”
Now watch this leap, folks. It’s a beaut.
“And toward the United States. That is the meaning of Connecticut Democrats’ likely repudiation of Joe Lieberman. What drives so many Demo crats crazy about Lieberman is not simply his support for the Iraq war. It’s that he’s unashamedly pro-American.”

I’m embarassed but thank you, b for the information. I found Moon after trying to find a way to communicate with Billmon and given Bernhard’s incredible insight and mastery of information, just assumed (wrongly of course), that b was Billmon. I certainly however don’t mind your insight, real b — thanks again for the correction.

I like this bit from Bill Kristol:
“Is it too fanciful to speculate about a 2008 GOP ticket of McCain-Lieberman, or Giuliani-Lieberman, or Romney-Lieberman, or Allen-Lieberman, or Gingrich-Lieberman?”
How many different ways can he say Lieberman is 2nd banana? If he’s such a great man why can Kristol never imagine him on the top of any ticket? Must he always be Tonto to Candidate X’s Lone Ranger?

I predict a Giuliani-Gingrich ticket bringing back some of that old panache of the ol’ gipper years.

Uncle, I thght. of that earlier today, but McCain is first among equals in line of succession and Guiliani & Gingrich (America’s Hitler) are both far too vain to get along. And McCain is probably too vain to get along w/either as well. Plus McCain is a reactionary & Gingrich a pure fascist.
