WB: Listening to Sy

Billmon:

On the other hand, I seriously doubt Cheney and his circle care much about the failure of the bombing-them-into-democracy theory. That’s Shrub’s bag, not Shotgun Dick’s. Whether an aerial assault could actually neutralize Iran’s nascent nuclear program may also be irrelevant. The main pupose of destroying Lebanon, as I pointed out awhile back, may have been simply to demonstrate to Tehran the terrible price it will have to pay if it continues to defy the laughably misnamed "international community."

Uncle $cam, thanks so much for the link… and for so many other valuable, wonderful links… you are a treasure!

Thanks, billmon…now I’m going to go back to obsessively checking Google News every morning to see if we’ve nuked Iran. I thought I was past that.

I wonder if anyone is aware of any research involving personality changes in those whose hearts have been medically compromised. It’s an intriguing subject with many archetypical and psychic overtones.
As a single data point, Cheney certainly stimulates my interest.

Maybe Cheney’s been changing the catbox:

The results of previous work suggested that Toxoplasma could affect specific elements of human culture. Toxoplasma is associated with different, often opposite, behavioral changes in men and women, but both genders exhibit guilt proneness (a form of neuroticism). Lafferty’s analysis found that countries with high Toxoplasma prevalence had a higher aggregate neuroticism score, and western nations with high prevalence also scored higher in the ‘neurotic’ cultural dimensions of ‘masculine’ sex roles and uncertainty avoidance.

(I’m a goner–there’s no way to test personality change with me; I’ve lived with cats all my life.)

One write-up out of several on research into toxoplasmosis and personality change. And y’all thought only preggers got out of changing the litter.
I still ‘spect Dick’s heart grew 5 sizes too small back during his Wyoming oil days.
