WB: Hillbilly Heaven

Billmon:

I’m surprised Wal-Mart didn’t try to bill him for the imaginary water.

That’s one thoroughly penetrated polluted imagination that pup has. When I lived in the damn desert, and it was ~112 everyday for months on end, I’d look down the road & see mirages of water in the road…but stores…Wal-Marts…Never!

it sure does sound like something out of the box that creative pr flaks would come up with. keeps that image of bringing democracy – which in u.s. terms means the freedom to choose between several brands at competitive prices – to the middle east vivid. one winger/soldier i exchanged insults w/ elsewhere kept harping on how important it was for him to “allow” iraqis the opportunity to have mickey d’s and the like there, not only b/c we are now “living in the global economy”, but since it is also good for ‘murikan biz. wal-mart is the ultimate hillbilly heaven – freedom & democracy defined.

Easy enough for a bunch of padded fanny armchair critics to mouth off about…no one hates wal-mart more than myself (2 year boycott & going strong) and as a hillbilly myself it is anything but “heaven”…heaven would be people who show a little empathy toward those who are serving us…the reality of life is that in most small towns wal-mart is the ONLY place that people have to shop…I am blessed enough that I can afford to pay the extra $75 bucks a shopping trip to drive to a larger town with more stores…when you’re working for $6 bucks an hour…you’re not really concerned with the bigger picture…A body tends to see the familiar in times of crisis…you see what you know…of course, I’m sure most of us have been on the brink of hallucination & death in the desert lately…ON ANOTHER NOTE: Bill Clinton is a hillbilly and GW is a redneck…get it straight….THERE IS A VAST DIFFERENCE…redneck is an insult…hillbilly is a compliment.
You’ve got to admire men that deal in ideas of that size and can tote them around without crutches.~Mark Twain
If you want a real Wal-mart gripe, check into Murfin valves that the state of MO is enforcing all gas stations to install on their pumps at the cost of $3-5K…big money to a country store…Murfin by the way is the name of Wal-mart’s gas stations…
