WB: Rub a Dub Dubya

Billmon:

I know this kind of nastiness isn’t about sex, but it’s not entirely clear to me what it is about. I realize Bush has a compulsive need to humiliate or at least denigrate those who make him feel inadequate or inferior (his natural condition) but this is ridiculous. Why should the female chancellor of Germany be singled out for such an extreme dose of Shrub’s Oedipal pathologies?

Hmmm. I guess the question kind of answers itself.

Rub a Dub Dubya

From Laing’s view of madness

Laing argued that the strange behaviour and seemingly confused speech of people undergoing a psychotic episode were ultimately understandable as an attempt to communicate worries and concerns, often in situations where this was not possible or not permitted. Laing stressed the role of society, and particularly the family, in the development of madness.

You don’t have to psychoanalyze him. He was appealing to his fundie base. It’s called “laying on of hands,” by which he can drive Satan out of her. I know because I have a holy-roller minister in my neighborhood who loves to try to lay hands on me while silently murmuring biblical verses. What gets me a bit upset though is the constant repetition of “let’s be fruitful and multiply.” I got fruitful once, and I still kick myself for it. Fortunately, my son moved out on his own several years ago. Ain’t gonna do that again, even if it would drive Satan out of me.
Bush is gutter trash. Trash is what trash does.

I think I’ve got the answer. It’s basic monkey behavior.
See, she didn’t acknowledge him when he came into the room. He was merely demonstrating what might happen to those who don’t pay attention.
Just be thankful that he didn’t mount her!

Barbara Bush, what the hell have you unleashed on the world?
How utterly Billmon…finding a way to blame it on a woman…

cool it, jj. Dubya’s a son of a bitch.

He’s also a son of a prick, and a grandfather who is heavily responsible for his political views. Most importantly his way to WH was paved entirely by males. Were chimpy in the job best suited to him, a country club bartender, no one would give a damn…so, yes, Barbara Bush had zippo to do w/”unleashing him on the the world”…and is of a piece w/the rest of that hideous family..this is just the same old sexist saw of decades ago – blame it all on the Mother.

I’m feeling uncharacteristically testy today. Blame anyone you want but I’d rather read billmon’s rants. As for dubya, his mum should have taught him some social graces.

Dispatches: Iraq The womans story.
A compelling account of a life inside Iraq that is rarely seen on news bulletins: stories of ordinary women whose struggle to survive has … all » only worsened since the war.

jj, you make a good point. However, Billmon’s antipathy towards Barbara Bush is not because she’s female — it’s because of her habit of making “let them eat cake”-style comments about the less fortunate and victims of war, e.g.:
