Some of the more droll quotes out of the NYT article that Billmon linked to.
“The mood music of this opinion so lacks the traditional deference to the president,” said John O. McGinnis, who served in the Justice Department from 1987 to 1991 and now teaches law at Northwestern, “that it would seem to have implications for his other programs.””
“The opinion, Professor Yoo said, seemed to require Congress to specify a laundry list of powers before the president can act.
“I worked on the authorization,” he added. “We wrote it as broadly as possible. In past wars, the court used to let the president and Congress figure out how to wage the war.”

Billmon’s right of course. Just who is this SCOTUS or whatever they call themselves, who have been sitting on their spotty behinds picking blackheads showing no respect at all.
The Gitmo livestock are going to be whisked away before they get anyway near the revolving knives. Professor Yoo crafted a set of laws designed to collect and channel all the blood away safely so that no one would ever skid on the slippery sheen of blood on black marble.
There were special clauses in these delightfully crafted presidential edicts designed to sort the skin from the hair and the livers from the appendixes.
Look at it now!
Destroyed by a bunch of silly old men who, quite frankly couldn’t appreciate the existential angst of a hard working constitutional lawyer.
Who are these silly old fools to come over all mid 20th century about human rights? What about the rights of a 21st century lawyer desperately trying to carve out a position of consigliere to the 1st global first family?

More shades of sociopathic personality disorder. How birds of a feather flock together.

Bush is going to have to find another ‘back of a cereal box’ legal opinion now. I’m sure these people can help: “Legal College/Univ. Degrees in 5 Days. No Coursework. Ship Fast.”
Heck, by the time SCOTUS catches up with THAT reality, they’ll have created a NEW reality… and so on.
