if its any consolation, the instant i scrolled down into the beef of krugman’s column this morning the word billmon appeared in middair. the texture was off, though — krugman played the quotes as set of call-and-answer riffs, whereas billmon usually arranges them carefully along a ghost-vector that resembles a loose turd swirling down an unloved toilet bowl.

Having just reread “1984”, the thought kept coming to mind that the current version of the slogan would be:
