The parallels between the Bourbons and the Bushs have been obvious for some time. Their reluctance to have their aristocracy help pay for the expenses of the government is another topic which Billmon doesn’t address in this particular comment but, I believe, has in other comments. Hell, relations between the new United States and France crashed after the Revolution as well, just as our relations with the new Iraqi government are tanking now and heading south in the future. The portents of the collapse of the French economy and its causes prompt one to consider where to seek a safe haven from the US economy.

..not only that, it explains those weird iv tubes and stuff running down his back…and apparently, his administration is also tippling from those same tightie whities. at least this might explain what’s contributing to Rummy’s memory loss, as noted from Billmon’s post.

Hmm. Perhaps Cheney administration officials would be happy to see the price of oil skyrocket and don’t really care about the [non-existent?]uranium except as the useful ruse it is.

US has $80m plan for Cuba after Castro
America should be prepared to move quickly to pour aid and advisers into Cuba in the event of Fidel Castro’s death, to turn the island away from communist rule, a government report due for release this week will recommend.
The report, the second from a group set up by George Bush three years ago to intensify US pressure for regime change in Cuba, calls for $80m (£43m) to be put aside to step up opposition to Mr Castro.
