Bush sure knows how to get around that pesky Constitution with its “right to petition for the redress of grievances”. If they don’t know who has been aggrieved, how can they petition?

And, in the unlikely event the surveillance program actually produced a real suspect, (or) someone with a potential grievance — they could be held indefinitly without habeas corpus, under the patriot act. You can bet the family farm that if this program did produce a suspect (gimme’ just one example) with clear evidence against him, we’d never hear the end of it. So far, the program has been 100% ineffectual — a war against nothing.

ot but- Word of the Day: Mastabatorium
I just flipped on the tv, it was on PBS, and that was the first phrase of a segment.. the name of the room where aryan youth can go deposit their sperm in CA.
I guess it’s like a blood bank b/c you can get paid 75 bucks per shot, and instead of having someone stick a needle in your arm, you look at Penthouse.
This is an entirely creepy program about commidifying humans on Indpendent Lens. One to watch.
Phrase of the day: Post-mortem sperm recovery.
Remember the old John Lennon line, “Life is what happens while you’re making other plans.” –apparently not any more. cloining, genetic engineering…redesigning humans.
it’s enough to make me want to cry. the narcissism of rich, mostly white people who cannot accept their mortality.

Damn, is it just me, or does life just seem better with daily Billmon posts?

I always sort of regarded “1984” as a warning; but apparently for many it has served as a sort of a blueprint. And I certainly never expected to actually live it…
But it is great to have Billmon narrating.

It’s really nice to see so many familiar names here commenting once again. Everytime I come to this site I see someone else has posted again. sweet.
Oh, and if anyone is interested, that program last night was called Frozen Angels.
blond, blue-eyed residents of L.A. are doing a booming biz selling their sperm and eggs. the guy in the picture at the link is the one who was giving the tour…”And here’s our mastabatorium…”
beyond documentaries about different subjects, Independent Lens has other interesting work, fwiw…animation, too.
