Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Immigrant Terrorist Threat

The major papers report on Bush’s new push on immigration, including the use of the National Guard beyond their local states to seal the southern borders.

The appropriate police training was completed during their time in Iraq. After a short run as border guards, they will be ready for their stind as campus police. We have seen that before.

Of course part of this is just a diversion from other issues. But I think Karl Rove is also playing a distinct card in the poker game of the coming election. It is called racism.

Fox news is already calling for more white babies. The fringe right will extend that theme, the evangelicals will join in and OpEd writers will rally the masses.

The endangered white men will take the up his burden, follow the repubs flag and fight this existential threat.

The arab terrorist boogie man has lost a bit of effectiveness. The immigrant terrorist threat is the choosen successor.

Watch your back.

Perhaps a law that makes abortion illegal for white people but allows blacks to kill off their potential crack-dealer offspring?

This is an exquisite pleasure, to see Paul VI and Humanae Vitae vindicated totally.

The anti-immigrant movement in the US is a knee-jerk reaction to dwindling resources, dependence on the rest of the world, confusion, fear, globalisation (international outsourcing, ha that is funny!), unemployment, lower standards of living, rising prices, deficient health care, ‘poor’ schools, the end of social mobility, Gvmt. intrusion, loss of cultural traditions, supremacy; and wars that don’t work, only make the price of gas go up.
The White Xtians will support it to the hilt, as they can’t any longer argue for slavery, let’s get those ugly people out! Pols will make hay out of it while the sun shines on the oranges in Florida, but of course there is absolutely no question of getting rid of an underclass that works for practically nothing. Some brands of ecologists / republican isolationists / democrat stooges / soccer moms also imagine that if the US could just return to its pristine original state, when fossil fuels flowed and the Indians were all deaded, and Christmas was a real family feast, and people knew where respect was due, and Johnny could become a millionaire, and the drive-in movies were cool, and pedophilia did not exist, etc. etc. all would be hunky-dory.
Also, it is always good to have a visible, present, enemy.

One other demographic aspect is that once Chicanos make it to the Land of the Free, they start to adopt the gabacho habit of having fewer children per family.
Procreation as recreation? I just remember the German quote – I think it’s from Erich Kaestner – “Eltern werden ist nicht schwer, Eltern sein dagegen sehr” (It’s easy to become a parent, but much harder to be one)
