If the Democrat Senators do not filibuster Scalito, they should be made to pledge allegiance to Ken Melmen (Don´t forget the Vaseline).

This is the most conservative judge you can imagine. His position on the "unitary executive" is a tool to introduce the Kingdom of the U.S..

Scalito says fuck these books of precedences whatever the are. (Hey – he DID marry a law librarian to be able to do so (and to do the crying)).

To him Roe vs. Wade is NOT settled law. He even openly explained how he will change it. In his words: "I would approach the question with an open mind." Open to whom?

If they let this one through the gates, is there anything left those politicians stand for at all?

If you are in the U.S., please call your Senator today.

What a vile “joke” by Billmon.

Is the crying really that annoying? It seems to be all anyone is mentioning about the hearings – I don’t have TV so I can’t watch.

heheh the assholes are really shitting themselves on this. They’ve even sent their little servile and supplicant trolls out to check out Billmon’s barely breathing board. I always wondered what sort of a person could subsume themselves to the point where they would support some self satisfied superior greedhead ‘to rule over them just like a real king in the olden days’.
I guess people in the US are going to find out exactly how many people there think so little of themselves that they would rather have an fairly stupid, semi-dry drunk, be their king than have to make decisions for themselves.

good post b, here’s another:
Times editorial board gets it: Too bad about the reporters…
Some commentators are complaining that Judge Samuel Alito Jr.’s confirmation hearings have not been exciting, but they must not have been paying attention.

What completely disgusts me is the carefully choreographed scene of Alito’s wife leaving the court room in tears because Democrats dared to ask real questions. Oh Democrats are so mean! The Wall Street Journal made it a point to add this barker to the headline on page A-6 yesterday. This is simply sick! The Rovians have emptied out their dirty tricks box to construct a scene so bizarre! Is this what they paid the Lincoln Group for?

@diogenes
It was not a democrat questioning
Alito during the drama. It was a rethug.

Seems the ‘unitary executive theory’ unites Alito with Bush re exercising executive powers that are forbidden in the Constitution.
Al Gore is giving a speech on Monday regarding the Constitutional crisis. He will be introduced by Republican former Georgia Representative Bob Barr, of Clinton impeachment fame. [Hmmm. What do you think will be the recommendation in the speech….?]
The speech is co-sponsored by groups on the left and the right who are concerned about constitutional checks on executive power. When I clicked links to a few of the conservative groups, they also had website action recommendations regarding stopping liberal groups from scuttling ALito’s confirmation.
How can these conservative groups claim to be against Bush’s abuse of executive power, yet support the confirmation of Alito? Cognitive dissonance?

Why do I go all moony when I hear Al Gore’s name?

Well, you’ll have to watch it on CSPAN because tickets to the Constitution Hall event are sold out.
