… in Ra’iatea he at last conceived a strong attachment for a most beautiful woman named Vai-tu-marie (Clear-still-water), who was the wife of a noted warrior named Tutae (Dung), and he determined to possess her himself. So he made advances to the man, sometimes feigning friendship and again aggravating him to hostility, until one day the warrior raised his spear to strike him, when Hiro caught him by the head and broke his neck. Thus freed of the husband, Hiro took possession of the wife, …

but, but…Is this the same wife he later kills?
I like my tricksters a little more Anansi and a little less Zeusical (except in the case of Dr. Zeus).

downunderwear
Beautiful beq. Nice text b.
May I add that I find a certain androgeny to both forms.

Beq, I love the pants.
How big is this piece, can you tell us what media you used, anything.
Did you all notice that there’s a bum on the foot in the lower left, and that it looks like fingers waving?
If you look at the picture itself you’d have to imagine one figure reclining and another above leaning over. Is beq’s other work that we’ve seen as erotic as this one.

@ jonku. I had to look again. You’re right (one of the toes looks like a mini-bum too). I actually sold this a few days after I finished it more than a year ago. I never really got to know it. Since I’m working on some new ones I thought I’d send this to Bernhard in the meantime. It is 18″x18″ as are most of my recent paintings and it’s acrylic on canvas. Sorry, I should have included that. I also have to admit that I can’t remember what the tag says. (Jape?) I wrote it on the back and now I don’t know. Thank you for the text b.

beq & b
these gifts of yours & anna missed bring me great pleasure – mediating the horror story that constitutes life under the imperium

I’m wondering what the ideograms mean as I enjoy the
pleasant ambiguity.

oops, last one was i.

Very nice. I have to admit at first I thought, not as overtly sexual as much of Beq’s work, and then I realized, that’s not a duvet, that a bum! Some of us are just slow.

Can’t resist this either.
Thank you MJS (+++)

The characters read: “gen’ei”, the two characters meaning respectively illusions and shadows.
The whole word translates as visions; dreams; a symbol of things that barely exist and yet manage to, briefly.

@ citizen. Thank you for that. I try to make the “tag” and the title relate in some way like a word game. The “local hero” as a profligate rake and the ephemera of a one night stand. Must try to hang onto my notes.
