WB: Karl’s Moment of Truth? ++

If this were October 2006 instead of October 2005, I’d say the Republicans could kiss their House and Senate majorities goodbye, gerrymander or no gerrymander. But of course it’s not, and it’s also hard to imagine that the next 12 months are going to be another uninterrupted chain of disasters.

I. Karl’s Moment of Truth?

Comments

Sorry. Republicans will gain seats in the midterm elections. It’s just that way. Karl knows what to do, and Diebold will do the rest. The exit polls may be a bit screwy, but now we’re used to that.

Arbogast is worried about the Rove’s powers. Hillary will get caught fucking chipmunks, or Kennedy will be seen meeting with Osama in Vienna. Check the Drudge honey wagon to see whether it hasn’t started already. Boston will be nuked by Iranoterrorists. We’ve won the pennant and won the Superbowl a few times so it’s time to go to heaven. All nine members of the Supreme Court will be gassed by Islamic fundamentalists, and Romney will have to declare martial law until Congress with an armed martial standing at the end of each row can approve a new court in an up or down vote. There’s a lot of time between now and November 2006. Yes, I understand Arbo’s point but wish it isn’t that bad.

From the Faux honey wagon:
Possible Plot Information; 19 operatives were to place explosive devices in subways using briefcases…
‘THREAT’ TO NYC SUBWAY
They’re carrying briefcases? Well who isn’t on the NYC subway, you use it to go to work, don’t you? At the least our white collar GWOT warriors can unleash their inner Chiang and show videotapes of people, operatives actually, carrying briefcases, but the Al Queda called off the attack due to our Strong and Clear Leader. Please show your support for our troops by sending your donation to the Committee to re-elect the president to…

Whatever happens will be as good or as bad as Amerikans choose to let it be.
Karl Rove is just a human like every other person on this planet who eats, shits, sleeps, farts and draws breath.
If Amerikans choose to convince themselves that he has some sort of supernatural ability to control the world around him then that is what they will see. If on the other hand US citizens decide that they don’t believe in black magic then Karl and Co will come unstuck quicher than a letter flap in the hands of the feds.

from McCaffrey analyzes Bush’s remarks on Iraq (MSNBC)
As for Iraq’s future, the general is optimistic.
.
“I think personally, we’re going to pull this off by next summer. I’d be surprised if we don’t end up by next autumn with an Iraqi government that largely works, a low-grade civil war, a security force that works,” he said.
.
“I think regardless of your viewpoint on getting in there, right now, it’s hard to imagine a good outcome if we don’t end up yielding an Iraqi government that can rule under some sort of laws.”

Woody also penned;
“As the poet said, ‘Only God can make a tree’ — probably because it’s so hard to figure out how to get the bark on.”
So much for the barking Ws tree of democracy in Iraq.

There is no connection whatsoever between Bush’s speech yesterday on the War on Terror, the unspecified NYC subway threat, low approval ratings, and the pending Plamegate indictments. All from the folks who brought you “weapons of mass destruction.”

I wish that “Debs is Dead” were right. I truly do. I wish that what is happening in the US was the will of the people. It is not. One has to look no further than the Electoral College, redistricting Congressional Districts, etc., not to mention the 3/5th’s rule in the Constitution to recognize that our government spends most of its time making sure that voters don’t control things.
Recall, polls of people in the US show abysmal ratings for Bush. They will not be reflected in the outcome of the midterm elections.

Going to be interesting to see if Mr. Rove goes all the way and, like he has done for so many of his compatriots before him (not to mention the first batch of Abu Ghraib images), makes himself the Kool-Aid.
_____
(maybe he already has – what’s happenin’ in Iraq these days anyway?)

Karl Rove is just a human like every other person on this planet who eats, shits, sleeps, farts and draws breath.

And unlike every other person on this planet, he has a huge amount of power, few constraints, and zero principles.
