WB: The 51st State Revisited

A little bird tells me that Rosen could tell the feds some very interesting stories about AIPAC’s political fundraising machine — stories that would not sound entirely out of place at Tom DeLay’s trial.

The 51st State Revisited

Israeli lobby spy case suggests new push to keep leaks from reporters
In this case, however, the Justice Department extended the cloak of secrecy beyond the Pentagon, quietly expanding the power of the government to jail those who talk to the press, watchdogs and reporters’
The AIPAC scandal could (and should) bring down the US Government, because the issue isn’t really what information flowed from Larry Franklin to AIPAC, but what DISinformation flowed from Israel, through AIPAC, to Larry Franklin, in the office of Special Plans, there to be issued as the now discredited claims about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction that sent this nation to war.
It is for this reason that the US Government has worked to protect Israel’s spy ring. Israel and the US were equal partners in creating these wars.
“Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It’s classified information.” — US official quoted in Carl Cameron’s Fox News report on the Israeli spy ring and its connections to 9-11.

Israel will stand by DeLay
The ousted majority leader of the House of Representatives is known to be a staunch supporter of Israel and has close ties with right wing groups and the settlers. “Tom DeLay is a true friend of Israel and has always worked for the security and well-being of the state,” Israeli ambassador to Washington Danny Ayalon said Thursday. “We will keep up the close ties with him.”
and if anyone doubts the power of the Israeli lobby:
Gene Research Shows Middle-Eastern Jews And Palestinians Almost Identical
A keynote research paper showing that Middle Eastern Jews and Palestinians are genetically almost identical has been pulled from a leading journal. Would ideology and belief have something to do w/ it?
Finally, years from now, when it is all said and done, I have a strong suspicion it will be shown that the ‘Mossad’ along w/ties within our own government through AIPAC/JINSA/PNAC such as Douglas Feith and his ilk will be implicated in the crimes of September 9-11-01.

here’s a josh marshal piece i linked to from a juan cole piece and it just goes on and on
head spinning

The meetings turn out to have been far more extensive and much less under White House control than originally reported. One of the meetings, which Pentagon officials have long characterized as merely a “chance encounter” seems in fact to have been planned long in advance by Rhode and Ghorbanifar. Another has never been reported in the American press. The administration’s reluctance to disclose these details seems clear: the DoD-Ghorbanifar meetings suggest the possibility that a rogue faction at the Pentagon was trying to work outside normal US foreign policy channels to advance a “regime change” agenda not approved by the president’s foreign policy principals or even the president himself.
The first meeting occurred in Rome in December, 2001. It included Franklin, Rhode, and another American, the neoconservative writer and operative Michael Ledeen, who organized the meeting. (According to UPI, Ledeen was then working for Feith as a consultant.) Also in attendance was Ghorbanifar and a number of other Iranians. One of the Iranians, according to two sources familiar with the meeting, was a former senior member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who claimed to have information about dissident ranks within the Iranian security services. The Washington Monthly has also learned from U.S. government sources that Nicolo Pollari, the head of Italy’s military intelligence agency, SISMI, attended the meetings, as did the Italian Minister of Defense Antonio Martino, who is well-known in neoconservative circles in Washington.

now , wouldn’t it be lovely if sismi/leeden/franklin/=niger/rove /bolton , we can wrap them in a ball and ring them w/barbed wire. ok i need to go drink some reality juice

U. Scam: You’re being optimistic about that “years from now, when it is all said and done, I have a strong suspicion it will be shown…” We should be seeing soon whether our accountability (justice) system is working. If we don’t see progress with the Plame inquiry and the corruption Delay, should we be making plans on moving to Canada? What time should we be seeing this progress?

I like how the Italians show there is no co-mingling between “miliary” and “intelligence” with their mickey mouse acronym “SISMI”. So the Coke Lite era Italian national/socialists have a connection with the Busholini regime, how appropriate. I guess we learned from them Il Duce’s lessons in Ethiopia to apply in Iraq.

Nicolo Pollari, the head of Italy’s military intelligence agency, SISMI
This is extremely interesting, since the fake reports about Iraq seeking uranium from Niger began to pour out of SISMI at about this same time.

Speaking of Italians:
ITALY: US DIPLOMAT ACCUSED OF HEADING CIA KIDNAP OPERATION
Prosecutors in Italy have issued three more arrest warrants over the kidnapping of an Egyptian imam based in Milan by a team of CIA agents. Among those wanted in connection with the operation, which led to the man – Abu Omar – being tortured in Egypt, is a 38-year-old female CIA agent who was working as a diplomat at the US embassy in Rome and is said to have led the operation.

BOB LADY & JOHN ROBERTS: From Iran-Contra to Iraq

The kidnapping by Bob Lady’s gang of a Muslim cleric MADE HEADLINES IN ITALY in June and July and caused a US-Italian incident. The CIA, who had “renditioned” the militant Muslim off the streets of Milan, were charged, put under arrest warrants in Europe — but the prosecutor, Armando Spataro, despite early claims that he would extradite, has made no moves to do so! The story will be an election issue in Italy next May. It could be an issue in the confirmation hearings of John G. Roberts if Mr. Lady, under pressure, talks about his own role in Iran-Contra.

@annie
That’s Bond ,er I mean Bob Lady aka 007
Lady Is No “lady”: ROBERT SELDON LADY
It is my belief that the “Italian functionary,” or “a lady,” that Martino referred to was actually a Lady, Robert Seldon Lady Sr, the same man who headed up the torture abduction of Abu Omar.
Italian prosecutor Armando Spataro has just obtained arrrest warrants for 6 more CIA spies in addition to the original 13 that included Robert Lady, in connection with the abduction.
Robert Seldon Lady, 51, lived in Abita Springs, Lousiana, until 2001, when he left for the Milan post. He still has an address in New Orleans, according to Cryptome http://cryptome.org/lady-eyeball.htm . He and his wife Martha own a villa in the Italian countryside near Penango (Asti) and Turin, where they hoped to retire before he went on the lam. Born in Honduras, he was an affable New York City cop in the 80s who infiltrated leftist groups. He is something of an electronics hacker (at least of cell phones). And now he is a wanted felon in Europe.

Here’s some things, Annie, but, yeah, the Niger embassy in Italy, those CIA guys arrested…and now Italy seeking the head of the CIA, Ghorbanifar…he’s like a character actor from some updated Bogart movie. Always trouble.
Laura Rozen’s blog, War and Piece, has done lots of good work, but I just checked and she links to a Nat’l Review article about the case from someone else and it’s behind a sub wall…
Uggabugga is keeping track.
Way back when Juan Cole made his predictions…how right is or isn’t he so far? I didn’t re-read this one.

Go down to Aug. 29th “Blow Off”
to see Bernhard’s front page of links at MOArchives. He seems to have compiled lots of the good links from the distant recent past about the issue.

If Israel were 51st State it would have a vague concern about the welfare of the other 50 & the solvency of it’s currency. This suggests the contrary is the case:
The United States and its allies must act to stop Iran’s nuclear programs — by force if necessary — because conventional diplomacy will not work, three senior Israeli lawmakers from across the political spectrum warned yesterday.
As a last resort, they said, Israel itself would act unilaterally to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear arms.

“We feel we are obliged to warn our friends that Israel should not be pushed into a situation where we see no other solution but to act unilaterally” against Iran, he said.
Israelis urge U.S. to stop Iran’s nuke goals
Time for America to shut off the money tap & sit down binoculars in hand to watch the action. If a state wants to commit suicide, there’s Every reason xUS Should Not Get Involved.
Be interesting to see if anyone speaks out against this. If we’re lucky actions against AIPAC will weaken them sufficiently to make this feasible.

There is an underlying context in all this to wit, even speaking of it suggests Jewish Conspiracy. While taking refuge from this sort of smear, which has not been necessary yet but soon will be, lies in pointing out the Israel and the Jewish state are a seperate thing from the old Jewish relious/cultural basis of traditional anti semtism, that wont matter.
In polite circles it has been and will be impossible to discuss US/Israel relations in terms that apply to this case or any case where our policy is seen to be an extension of Likudnic Zionism. Who wants to be branded an anti semite or a modern proponent of The Protocols?
I haven’t stated this too well but I hope my drift is clear. With absolute certainty I can say there is zero chance that our policies vis a vis Isreal will ever be discussed in the open. There is a slight chance I suppose that the policies might shift a bit in the future but I doubt it.
