Hersh on the Neocults

Two days ago Seymour Hersh gave a speech at a conference about Economic Strategies in the Fight Against Terrorism.

A video stream in WMV-Format is available. The Hersh talk starts 5:30 minutes into the stream. Unfortunately there is no transcript (yet). (Maybe that’s why the blogsphere has  so far ignored this.)

Some of his talking points were already known, like the "madness of King George II", but there are several things Hersh is revealing which, to my knowledge, are not widly known.

  • Six weeks ago there was a putsch in Mauritania. Hersh says the United States did initiate and supported the coup.

  • The rendition process, to vanish people and deliver them to some torture place in this world or worse, is still going on. Hersh calls it Murder Incorporated and thinks it recently even accelerated.
  • The success in the North Korea negotiation has been made with throwing a lot of US money at the problem. Hersh says he has been told four weeks ago, that a deal has to be done with North Korea to clear the deck for the obligations towards Israel.
  • A deal has been made between the US administration and Israel’s Prime Minister Sharon. To keep Sharon in the game in Gaza the US administration promised to take care of Israel’s assumed biggest strategic danger – Iranian nuclear weapons (if there are such).
  • Pakistan is developing small nuclear weapons in the kiloton range, essentially at landmine size, transportable. Pakistan is protecting OBL. Pakistani hardcore leadership is afraid they will be next after Iran.
  • Shinseki was seen as a "witch" by the the Neocons because he broke out of the Neocon cult.
  • The government is off-the-books. They don´t trust the CIA. They are using private contractors with ex-CIA folks who don´t have the legal obligations the CIA has.
  • There is plenty off-the-book money the administration is spending with congress eager to look the other way. There are billions from the Iraqi oil deals and $3 billions of Saddam’s personal money. This time, there is no need for something like an Iran-Contra deal.
  • If you need to "drink the Kool-Aid to get into the White House" – Negroponte is the one "mixing the Kool-Aid". He has direct access and control over the CIA station chiefs without a need to use the chain of command.

His closing conclusion:

"Since March 2003 the most critical danger to us and to the world is George Bush."

I agree.

Last I looked the human genotype is too mixed for this to work: there isn’t enough difference between skin types to target.

Bush has nothing to do with natural disasters or the
economic ones either. Gore would have spent into the
basement to keep the GDP green-over-green. Lieberman
would have had the US all over the Arab lands by now.
It’s endemic. It’s in the system. It’s in the population.
It’s an avian flu of the mind. The question you have to
ask is, what’s the real path to US recovery? No duality!

Genetic control will not happen. It’s impossible, try as they might. Life forces will defeat them all. Diversity is how the human population survives and by apparent spontaneous mutation. Worry not.
Control of the human race by other humans also will not happen. There are equalizers in the species that are always in operation. If any power triumphs, it is the collective.

Commie talk or not, it’s irrelevant. Vaccines aren’ going to help much if this is truly a virulent influenza virus on the H5N1 pattern. H5N1 mutates very quickly, and swaps genes with other flu viruses when they appear. (One possibility is that if/when it makes the jump to humanity it will drop some of its nastier traits—not totally implausible, given that it will probably make the jump by swapping genes with a human flu virus, which tend to be relatively benign.) Making a vaccine for influenza takes several weeks—and if your end result doesn’t work you have to start over from the beginning. If avian influenza spreads as fast as the 1918 flu did, in half that time the thing would be everywhere. By the time a vaccine would be ready, it would be redundant. And when it makes the jump to being human-transferrable, there is no particular reason to believe that preëxisting vaccines will be effective, since the virus will have to undergo a lot of changes to get to that point. (The immune system mostly works by protein pattern recognition; proteins are the product of DNA; therefore a human-transferrable avian influenza will, by definition, have different proteins than existing strains. Vaccines work by exposing the immune system to a pattern under harmless conditions, so that when it shows up again the threat is recognized immediately. It’s possible that a vaccine created now would still be effective to a greater or lesser extent against a new strain, depending on how similar the proteins are, but I wouldn’t want to bet the world’s population on that. A far better strategy, as the WHO as pointed out and has been doing its underfunded unsupported best to carry out, is to vaccinate asians against current human flu, so that it is less likely for avian flu to come into contact with human flu and swap genes.)

There’s a second issue with making a vaccine and distributing it—there’s a limit to the production process. The process which is most commonly used is to grow the virus in a chicken egg, purify it, then inject it into a part of the body where it doesn’t spread fast enough to escape the immune system. (Influenza multiplies incredibly rapidly in your throat and lungs—not so fast in, say, your arm.) Well, where do we get the egg-stra production capacity?

This job, also described here, which was an operation so screamingly sloppy that it seemed designed to smear someone, always suggested to me these two points:

Maybe it’s not so much the so-called freedom of manning operations off the books, which I’ll bet is illusory once the veil has been pierced anyway, as the fact that the operations can be false-flagged and used to ruin the on-the-books efforts.

Yours is a interesting and plausible hypothesis. The fiasco represented by the Italian kidnapping may however have merely been as crass, unprofessional and utterly American as it seems. It’s disgusting that the “restoration” of American democracy is left to the hands of the CIA, an organization whose operations branch is an archive of anti-democratic maneuvers.
