FT changes headline on Blair’s statement. This morning, I picked up the paper copy of the Financial Times, scanned the headline, and harrumphed, remarking that “I had seen something like this before”. Yesterday, the FT website had the same title – “Blair rejects calls for probe into bombings.” Today, however, the headline has been changed to “Blair promises to hunt down bombers”. (BTW, it’s UK conservatives calling for a probe). Not only that, but the text in question is purged:
Tony Blair will on Monday reject Conservative demands for a government inquiry into last week’s London bomb attacks, insisting such a move would distract from the task of catching the perpetrators.
Gentlemen, prepare your tinfoil hats!!

I saw an article little while ago where the british defense department was having training sessions at the same locations that were hit by the bombs on the same day. thier training was in regards to bombs in subways. it was eerie reading it, like the stories associated with 911.

Well people, we all know exactly what will happen.
The US will pull out, call it a victory, then the Iraqi purge will start. All out civil war will follow between the Sunnis, Shia, and Kurds, a dictator will come along and take control, and we have Saddam two. Only this time a more cooperative fellow as long as US money comes in.
The stage is being set. We know the story line and we know that history always repeats. Repressive regime here we come. Boy oh boy, can that Bushie ever be a great nation builder!

re: the latest omigod stupid pronouncement from General Webster:
Join me in promoting the Monthly General William Westmoreland “Light at the End of the Tunnel” (LATEOTT) award for the most egregiously self-deluded pronouncement about the “progress” we are making in the Quagmire Formerly Known as Iraq.

Billmon: The moron who put Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces radio was that gutless, incompetent, and witless “insider” named Les Aspin. The hero of Somalia also used his time as Clinton’s Sec of Def to buckle to winger pressure and put Rush on armed forces radio to spew his demands for a coup against the democractically elected President. Ah Bill Clinton: put the loyalists at HHS and let the feckless run Justice and defense.

Uncle S: the FT probably canned that version given that when Monday came the Tories *didn’t* call for a public inquiry, or at least they didn’t according to my listening of “Today in Parliament”.
