I drive past it every day– it’s huge and dusty; I’m guessing there’s a metaphor there in that brown, barren scar squatted on by earthmovers, sprawling over what last month was a shady stand of trees…

I looked over the elligibility rules and I’m disappointed to see that serving in Viet Nam doesn’t get you in there unless you were at least wounded, but if you served in the army at any time and were a member of congress, you’re in:
Any former member of the Armed Forces who served on active duty (other than for training) and who held any of the following positions:
1. An elective office of the U.S. Government.
Of course, limiting that category to “active duty” vs reserves disqualifies most elected representatives, since our future leaders tended to hide out in the reserves or national guard if they had low draft numbers and ran out of deferments. I don’t think meathead’s duty qualifies as “active” but he still gets in as POTUS.

{Rove-Cheney-Limbaugh-Malkin-etc}
Shovel them under, indeed. You see? You see?! As if any more proof was needed that the left hates the troops.

Yeah and you know that Carl Sandburg was a filthy commie, too.

… and Billmon scores a bit of dry humour of his own. Grass indeed.

To billmon,
I see an ad for the new release of the Gulag Archipelago.
Does this contain the second pubished volumn? Just asking, for the first volumn is tough, but the second volumn knocks you flat.
