The Duke in Stir

So, while my conscience won’t allow me to gloat over the sight of the Cheney administration hopelessly impaled on its own Iraq lies, and I’m far too pessimistic to take much comfort in Shrub’s falling poll numbers, I have absolutely no objections whatsoever to savoring the public humiliation (and, with luck, multiple felony convictions) of Duke Cunningham, conservative asshole extraordinaire.

I had the privilege of meeting Francine Busby this last weekend, Duke’s likely opponent. She is a lovely lady, and very ready to go to Washington, so I’m helping to send her there. I would suggest others do the same!

And if anyone finds any dirt on either Cunningham or Duncan Hunter, unfortunately my congress critter, I would love to know. I also met Jim Hester this weekend, who will be Hunter’s opponent. He has 14 years service in the military, volunteered for the Persian Gulf War and is also a hottie. ;^) His web site is not live yet, but will be in the next couple of weeks.

Both wonderful people – I met them at a luncheon for Donna Frye when I went out precint walking this weekend. If you want to help out Dem candidates and have no cash to give, PLEASE get out there and volunteer to do some precint walking – it’s incredibly important. I think we managed to round up quite a few voters this weekend for Donna Frye in our special mayor’s election, and a surprising number of Republicans were supporting her. And this was while precint walking in an elderly, very conservative area.

Oh for the day when being seen to be willing to kill other people to advance US theft of resources is considered a handicap in an election. Until that day comes we can expect many more Iraqs, Gitmos and dare I say it, WTC massacres.

Billmon, are you actually suggesting the Dukester may being getting it up the poopster. That will be quite an experience for him I’m sure.
Thats one thing, the dems may have lost their way when controling congress, but the rethugs really know how to roll out the corruption. The same thing happens when ever the rethugs control. The speculation and corruption hits the fan and they are always guided by the christian light (or is that right?).
I watched Hardball tonight and and saw former CIA director Woolsey, the PNAC ass kisser and political hack putting the right wing spin into a whirlwind.
He actually tried to say “fixed” as in the fixed the reasoning around the policy in the DSM means something different in England. Bullshit, pure bullshit.

Personally, I think it’s completely clear what “fixed” meant — it meant Dick Cheney was going to neuter any intelligence analyst who didn’t agree with him.

Who pays for Hunter’s way of life? Keliher points the finger at hundreds of defense-related contractors. They make up a big part of San Diego’s political establishment and over the years have sold trillions of dollars of military hardware, electronic gear, software, and miscellaneous services to the federal government. Hunter says he’s keeping America safe and creating jobs and economic opportunity for his constituents. Keliher thinks Hunter is padding his pockets by selling out the taxpayers to the defense industry.
