Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Redesign of MoA

Moon of Alabama is a month away from its first birthday and I am thinking about and testing a redesign.

In visual appearance-handling and in content-topics – what should be changed, what should not be changed?

Please let me know.

UPDATE: – Not fishing for compliments here – please – seriously – there are imperfect things here – in style and in matter – please name them. Thanks.

Comments

I like it just the way it is. I think the simplicity and pleasant colors makes it feel real. Everything works very well and if it aint broke, don’t fix it.
I hope to be the first to thank you Bernhard and Jerome for your contributions to this site. I open the site several times a day and read every comment.

Posted by: dan of steele | Jun 1 2005 22:42 utc | 1

Congratulations to all of us for having had the sheer blind luck to hit on an expert webmaster like you, Bernhard. Thank you for providing me/us with a wonderful forum. And thanks also to Jérôme for all those inspiring posts. I often feel quite privileged, and I really try to drop by every day to see how all of you are doing and what you are thinking. It’s an honour and a pleasure.
What I want changed? Not much, I think. Perhaps MoA has emancipated itself somewhat from Übervater Billmon, who seems to blog only occasionally these days. I feel that this is a living community in itself – no need to cut the ties with the Whiskey Bar, but no absolute need for the Whiskey Bar either. Quite comfy, I think.
So call me a conservative: I am not asking for change, I am asking for this forum and its community to remain its stimulating self.
Champagne!

Other than creating a gulag room for the Marxists, you could perhaps invite in a celebrity blogger occasionally–Paris Hilton is very cerebral, you know.
Naw, on second thought I wouldn’t change anything.
Congratulations on one hell of a fine first year!!!

Posted by: FlashHarry | Jun 1 2005 23:07 utc | 3

from th gulag – i think it is fine b – it is both easy to use & allows for vibrant debate – with the connexion to lespeakeasy which allows for longer meditations & perhaps more intimate enquirees – it seems exceptionally able as a tool for communication & for communication itself
i’m not an expert tho in such things & simplicity of design facillitates dance here rather than inhibits it
what do you want to change b?

Posted by: remembereringgiap | Jun 1 2005 23:51 utc | 4

Seems fine to me, but what the hell do I know?

Posted by: Anonymous | Jun 1 2005 23:53 utc | 5

Simple to use. It’s fine. If it isn’t broken, why fix it?

Posted by: Ben | Jun 1 2005 23:56 utc | 6

one year – it seems like we have known each other for a thousand years
in the darkest moments the voices here a polyphony of wonderment reminding me of althusser’s reading of marx – we are not alone

Posted by: remembereringgiap | Jun 1 2005 23:56 utc | 7

b
You see how attached we are to this place. I don’t want my room painted, mommy! I don’t want my favorite bar hung with ferns! There’s little enough security in life these days.

Posted by: liz | Jun 2 2005 0:03 utc | 8

it ain’t broke.
don’t fix it.
please. I would like my security blankie to stay the same colour I’ve been used to all along.

Posted by: DeAnander | Jun 2 2005 0:11 utc | 9

ditto everyone else so far; it’s a good, functional site, easy to read, write and post. Maybe (only maybe) the font on the MoA banner, I would change it, but to what I know not…

Posted by: theodor | Jun 2 2005 0:19 utc | 10

Me too. You might want to add a blogroll, but I hope you don’t do that, since the blogroll at The Whiskey Bar works just fine.
And thanks, b and Jérôme, for devising such a congenial scene!

Posted by: alabama | Jun 2 2005 0:23 utc | 11

Just jumping in for a second to tell you that the feature I like the most is the list of who has commented about what when on the right hand side of the screen.
If you’re following a topic, or what someone has to say about it, that function is really, really nice.
dKos is too busy for me, for the most part…design as well as # of threads…I don’t know what you’re going for, but I’d vote “non” for that.
I like that you don’t have haloscan for comments…it is really annoying to me.
Again, I don’t know what you’re thinking about doing, but just letting you know the things that work well for me.
Also, le speakeasy is sort of the “chat” room for the moonies here, so the two sites compliment one another in that the Moon is current events, moves faster and has different people who drop in than the people in the speakeasy.
I’d go with the suggestion to forget about a blogroll, unless you do one that doesn’t have the usual suspects…but that’s your call.

Posted by: fauxreal | Jun 2 2005 0:39 utc | 12

i think its great as it is. excellent topics and commentary. this place is a wonderful learning experience for me, just a simple working stiff.
geez! i thought r’giap was a moderate. what do i know.;)

Posted by: lenin’s ghost | Jun 2 2005 0:45 utc | 13

Bernhard, don’t you have enough to do?
There is one thing Barflies detest: change.
If you’re going to make changes at the bar, make them small enough that no one will notice. Don’t change all the glassware at once. Don’t even change the mints in the men’s room. That way the regulars will remain comfy. I’m totally serious.

Posted by: Vicki | Jun 2 2005 1:15 utc | 14

Only thing I would add is a way to make off the record remarks to you and Jerome. Like when you drive me nuts with lose/loose. You have created a great space here, let the content provide the color.

Posted by: biklett | Jun 2 2005 1:30 utc | 15

What else can one say but ditto. The site works excellently for ‘fly and casual tippler alike. Since even a luddite like myself has semi-mastered the html tags, for me change would be rather like the dos heads hangin on to their obscure commands after win95, useful for confounding n00bs but ultimately frustrating.

Posted by: Debs is dead | Jun 2 2005 1:31 utc | 16

Well, I’ll jump in and contribute to the “broken record” here…this site is great and I have no complaints or desire for anything to be “fixed” or “reformed” (gag!) or “improved”. So I guess you can record this as another “non” vote for “supersized MOA”, or “bolder, brighter colors” MOA, or “NOW! 10% MORE MOA” …. or any of those other great “improvements” we’ve had rammed down our throats by the great capitalist free-market culture!
And thanks to you and Jerome for such an absolutely delightful, refreshing oasis of a site to visit for good thinking, discussion, and insight.

Posted by: maxcrat | Jun 2 2005 1:41 utc | 17

Generally agree with most on changes, please no halo scan commentary bloc, expanded horizontal, and keep the commentary log role. It would seem that any noveltys in presentation would just make more work for you (or any volunteer editor), but I’d be glad to ride along with any changes you’ve got in mind — hard to know what might be better until you’ve tried some things. I do like to see new voices here, but kinda dread mass popularity (like kos). There’s a nice amount here that can be absorbed coherently on a daily basis even as people check in and out with participation level. As far as I can see b, you and jerome are doing just about everything right as it is.

Posted by: anna missed | Jun 2 2005 2:18 utc | 18

I’ll just add my off-key little voice to the choir and say I like things the way they are. Also, thanks again to B and Jerome for all the effort and insights they provide.

Posted by: lonesomeG | Jun 2 2005 2:25 utc | 19

I hesitate, after all this, to suggest that there might be some small room for improvement, but fauxreal’s mention of the comment log has reminded me that I have often wished it were longer, to fill me in when I can’t visit as often as I like.

Posted by: liz | Jun 2 2005 2:51 utc | 20

De, good to see you at the bar. Order your drink of choice on me!

Posted by: liz | Jun 2 2005 3:24 utc | 21

The only change that I could request, is that the Recent Comments list be made a bit longer. As we are all on different time-zones, I sometimes miss further comments that were made on previous topics.

Posted by: DM | Jun 2 2005 3:44 utc | 22

Well, ditto to all above! and thank your to you Bernhard and Jérôme.

Posted by: Fran | Jun 2 2005 3:58 utc | 23

The change I would like to see is a wider main column. Since there are no blogads and what not, the two side columns could probably be combined.

Posted by: Tom DC/VA | Jun 2 2005 4:01 utc | 24

i’m not sure how you can really improve on the presentation, b. it works very well, supported by the community’s collective voice expressed so far. i bet one of our artists can come up with a nice subtle MOA banner, if you’re really itching to do something to the look. i wouldn’t change the layout though. it’s sweet ace.
on the content side, should you want to expand the presenters, i’m sure that some of our patrons can lend a hand in occasional contributing features to help keep you from reaching burnout. i also like the idea of friday art posts.

Posted by: b real | Jun 2 2005 4:01 utc | 25

I lurk around a lot – but like your continental approaches.
I really can’t think of anything (although with the Maibock I’ve been drinking you’d think my imagination would be on a rabid pace) – except for if you use Jeb Bush could you kindly use his real name – John. “Jeb” is so faux – just like the rest of the Bush “downhomsieness”

Posted by: Thor Heyerdahl | Jun 2 2005 4:06 utc | 26

Just don’t get fancy on me now like they did over at ‘warblogging.com’
I don’t contribute much here but it sure is a pleasure to drop in from time to time to sit in the corner and observe the very well written and insightful journals and comments from the regulars.
I’m happy the way things are. Please don’t change anything unless you really have to.

Posted by: pb | Jun 2 2005 4:18 utc | 27

i vote non also, most comfortable blog on the planet imo.

Posted by: onzaga | Jun 2 2005 4:30 utc | 28

No observable changes please…as an American, we’re living in a time when our whole country is being destroyed around us, so novelty is not high on our agenda right now – as the comments attest.
Not to mention that this is the best designed blog around.
But if you absolutely can’t find a good book, or a weekend in the country for your delight, and insist on fiddling, you could post some of the artwork by barflies atop a thread.

Posted by: jj | Jun 2 2005 4:34 utc | 29

has it really been a year? i still remember the night panic set in on the closing of the wb.how we all freaked, and then pulled together.thankyou j & b.wasn’t ready to join AA.you have made a new and corner bar i think we all feel comfortable drinking at.all i can say is good for us and thankyou.

Posted by: onzaga | Jun 2 2005 4:36 utc | 30

NON PLEASE 😉

Posted by: Uncle $cam | Jun 2 2005 4:52 utc | 31

And let’s give Billmon three cheers for the WB design that MoA mirrors, along with all the other credit he is due for his fine work that pulled this community together in the first place.

Posted by: liz | Jun 2 2005 5:18 utc | 32

Well, it would be nice if the stylesheet on the preview page could be made to match the stylesheet on the main page… I know I mentioned that before and the answer was “can’t be done,” but you did ask…

Posted by: Blind Misery | Jun 2 2005 5:46 utc | 33

The place works pretty well as it is: not broke, don’t fix. Those of us who want a back kitchen tend to use Le Speakeasy – maybe a link over there?
The only thing I want is the RSS feed of comments so my RSS reader can tell me when something new has come up. But that’s beyond your control, as is the preview page style sheet. I’d like to be able to use <li> and <ul> in comments? I’m really reaching here.
What do you think is imperfect, b? We don’t need (say) diaries – there’s Kos and Booman Tribune for that. We don’t need chatty threads – there’s Le Speakeasy. MOA fills a niche quite nicely.
There’s one improvement I’d make though: who’s paying for hosting this? If it’s costing you real money I’d like a way we could contribute cash.

Posted by: Colman | Jun 2 2005 6:27 utc | 34

I’d leave things the way they are.

Posted by: Lupin | Jun 2 2005 7:18 utc | 35

don’t change a thing, and i don’t know what i’d do w/out ya’ll.

Posted by: annie | Jun 2 2005 7:39 utc | 36

Some small things:
– I would also support a longer “recent comments” list on the right
– I would also like the < ul > and < li > tags
– Sometimes, it would be nice to be able to post pictures in the comments thread, but I don’t know if the risks (upload cost, risk of disturbing the width of the thread) are too high or not.
And thanks to b and Jérôme as well 😉

Posted by: Jérôme | Jun 2 2005 8:18 utc | 37

Thanks to B and J. No messing around with pesky innovations! MoA is fine as it is.
My only occasional wish: a slightly wider middle column. But I’d read MoA even if there were three words per line.

Posted by: Noisette | Jun 2 2005 11:00 utc | 38

Bernhard and Jerome, I just want to add my thanks to you for creating this refuge for all of us. MoA is just about perfect. I am here most days even if I don’t add much to the discussions. By the way, thank you for hanging a painting on the wall occasionally [beats ferns, don’t you think?]

Posted by: beq | Jun 2 2005 11:37 utc | 39

Many wonderful nights had here already, moon dancing – here’s to many more.
Thanks to the hosts, B & J, and to the wonderful clientele, and to Billmon for inspiring it all in the first place.
I am only in favor of change right now if it’s going to be pretty much le meme chose after.

Posted by: Dismal Science | Jun 2 2005 12:11 utc | 40

One more happy “non”.
It’s like this. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have posters’ names at the head of their posting. But then I catch myself reading posts and guessing who’s writtent them. The times when my guesses are far off actually provoke me to think again what I thought I knew about my fellow posters. So, I thiknk I like this ‘flaw’, a bit like a scar on my lover – I’m immensely fond of this place and its various knobs and handles.
But I was very gratified by the ability to link directly to specific comments in a thread. So, tell us what you’re thinking of changing. I imagine we’d be grateful for some of them – but I imagine I’m not the only one who loves the ‘scars’ that help me encounter people here.

Posted by: citizen | Jun 2 2005 15:09 utc | 41

About the contents. I am intrigued by the possibilities of a series on understanding what counts as a modern actor. What I mean is – We are accustomed to discussing high profile politicians as actors in our political and economic worlds, but as Jerome has been helping us understand, one needs to understand the game being played in order to know what actions mean.
We often have so little idea about who the real actors are on our world, and it should be awfully illuminating to start figuring out what sort of criteria count for someone to be placed on our world’s list of the dramatis personae.
Also, I’m interested in non-human actors. And by this I mean not aliens but social agents. Sometimes systems are actors. What kind of times? When the system is so structured that it does very similar things even when very different people fill its role/positions. An example might be the electoral process to U.S. House Congress and the ways it might make Democrats and Republican representatives choose similar policies. Or, conversely, such threads could debunk false ideas of social actors.
Such a series might contribute some excellent awareness of how politics really works.

I love it the way it is. Such an excellent gang of chatters.
NO CHANGES

Meant to add: La, la, la, la, in the moonlight.

Posted by: Dismal Science | Jun 2 2005 16:09 utc | 44

Just add all the little green footballers type blogs to your blogroll. They’ll love the linkage but they will be incapable of posting here.
Otherwise: One year on, it ain’t broke.
Thanks Bernhard and Jerome.

Posted by: Cloned Poster | Jun 2 2005 17:02 utc | 45

Thank-you for a great year. The economics discussions are mind-blowing. I have a B.A. in Economics. Nearly everything they taught me [chicago school, alas] was BS. So I can say I have a BS in Economics. Wink.
I would like to see more discussion of the impact of The Patriarchy on all our pet topics and how improvements we seek might be more likely to occur in the absence of Patriarchy.
But the format at MoA is perfect. Thank-you, Bernhard and Je’ro^me.

Posted by: gylangirl | Jun 2 2005 18:18 utc | 46

No aspect of the site screams “improve this!” to me. I concur that the recent comments section could be lengthened, but I wouldn’t make any drastic, substantial changes to anything. It’s a nice, cozy little space you guys are running here. As a newish-comer, I also want to thank you guys for your insight, tolerance and moderation. All the technical modifications in the world would not change the fact that it is the humans behind the keyboards that make this place such a refreshing spot. Thanks, Jerome and Bernhard… and thanks also to all of the regular barflies for their participation.

Posted by: Monolycus | Jun 2 2005 18:57 utc | 47

Personally, I want a pony. A white one, with freckles.
Further to my post above, I’d like to thank Bernhard for setting this place up and keeping it running. You got the balance just right, and I don’t think it really needs to be messed with.
Thanks to Jêrôme too, for picking up the slack when Bernhard didn’t have the time or energy to keep things going. And for those ludicrously long postings that take me ages to understand.

Posted by: Colman | Jun 2 2005 19:04 utc | 48

a gulag for the Marxists sounds ’bout right
but it needs be stocked w/ an endless supply
of opium.
don’t see no need/cause for changes to the layout
tripped over this space as a result of a Billmon
reference; no doubt one of the funniest people alive.
& anyone w/ such a well-developed sense of the absurd
should know his URLs. Indeed.
Cogent & funny – a rare combination. Colman, slothrop,
DeAnander(back from the dead) &
citizen k immediately come to mind.
But, have
immensely enjoyed everyone’s contributions. anna missed & beq
have endlessly entertained(as well as gylangirl). Thanks Bernhard & Jerome
for providing the space & putting in
the effort & energy to maintain such a stimulating place.
Haven’t a clue what le speakeasy is.
Changes? What changes?

b
i’m still addicted to clocks – a series of them – hour in baghdad – peking – new york – paris – havana -maybe i’ts because i’m already in the bunker

Posted by: remembereringgiap | Jun 2 2005 22:20 utc | 50

Clocks, I think would be a good Idea. Or one clock, with a drop-down list, from which one could select the city.
It would be nice to know for sure what time it is in various places of current importance.
If a small change were of interest.

Posted by: FlashHarry | Jun 3 2005 0:35 utc | 51

As is so often the case others have already said it and said it better than I, but I will lend a my voice to the choir – NO thank you, very happy with things the way they are. Sure a wider comments section would be fine and clocks sound swell, but if you never changed a thing I would be just as charmed. MoA is highly functional in its simplicity.
Many thanks to Bernhard and Jerome for all of the effort and caring, and for giving this opinionated gang a home.

Posted by: conchita | Jun 3 2005 2:04 utc | 52

No changes required. It would be nice to be able
to get at “the complete postings” of some
of the regulars (including, of course, the moderators),
but perhaps setting up a search capability
like that at Le Speakeasy is too demanding on personal
and material resources. This “request” is along the
same lines as that for a longer “blogroll”, and, I think, reflects the fact that many of us find some of the “mini-essays” written here to be well worth re-reading, whether just to savor them, or to complement
and “refute” them.
In any case, I join in the general acclamation
for Bernhard and Jérôme.

Great place MOA …What ever you do keep it going.

Posted by: vbo | Jun 3 2005 9:22 utc | 54

I was not going to add my 2 cents to this thread as most of the above comments already speak for me.
But… the MoA is a daily watering hole for me. I mostly lurk and would feel more of a contributor if I could send a financial contribution occasionally.
If or when you, Bernhard or Jêrôme feel some extra Euro’s, or maybe after last Sunday, $’s would help, I would gladly be part of that segment of this bar. And then I could contribute more than my usual 2 cents.
Much appreciation from over this dark corner of the establishment.

Posted by: Juannie | Jun 3 2005 15:26 utc | 55

Yet another vote for leaving things exactly the way they are — and another huge thank you to Bernhard and Jerome. I learn more from MOA than I do from all the newspapers I read. Jameson’s for everyone, on me.

Posted by: Aigin | Jun 3 2005 15:54 utc | 56

Thanks everybody.
Seems like nearly no one likes a change. I didn´t recognize how many real conservatives hang around here.
Well, there have been some changes.
(theodor)
I finally managed to reengineer the typeface of Billmon’s “Whiskey Bar” logo and used it for the new MoA logo at the top of the page. The logo on the search/google page is fixed too, the rest will follow soon I hope.
(fauxreal,liz, DM)
The commentator/thread list in the right column of the mainpage has been reformated and now contains the last 60 comments, so its good to look back some 8 to 14 hours.
Two issues I may not fix:
(r`giap, Flash harry)
Clocks – take some time to load and processing power as they continuesly update. I may provide a link to some world-time page if I find a good one.
(Noisette, conchita)
The width of the comment column is 50% of fullscreen in the top page and 60% elsewhere. If someone has a widescreen (>1280 pixel) and the browser window in fullsize the linelength is already quite long. If I widen the column it may get too long. I will try around a bit to find some middle way to go on this.
Open Issues
(alabama, Cloned Poster)
blogroll – there is no place on the mainscreen to put one (I will keep the commentators list). I will provide a page with a link collection of news-sites, blogs, etc. Mainly the stuff I read, not everything thats out there.
(biklett)
Sorry for mistakes in our writing. I try to run all posts through a spellchecker but some things escape. In comments it just happens – sorry. If you want to reach me, the email address is MoonofA_@_aol.com (take those _ away).
(Jérôme)
Tags < ul >, < li > can mess up a site when posted in the comments. Like pictures in comments they are not supported by typepad.
(citizen, gylangirl)
modern actor/patriarchy – please write something up and send it, I will post it (I myself know nothing about acting and patriarchy :-).
(colman)
White ponies with freckles are currently out of stock.
(Hannah K. O’Luthon)
“Complete postings of someone” – I have to think about a way to do this. This site is hosted on a typepad system and I am not in control of the software. Maybe I find a way to do this, but its not simple and I am not sure it can be done.
(Juannie)
Money – currently not a problem, though it may change one day. Thinking about it – maybe I should implement a “wishlist” with various Malts I´d like to taste 🙂

Posted by: b | Jun 3 2005 17:52 utc | 57

Tags < ul >, < li > can mess up a site when posted in the comments. Like pictures in comments they are not supported by typepad.

I was going to say that. Evil typepad though. No images?

White ponies with freckles are currently out of stock.

That’s ok. I already know where to get one.

Thinking about it – maybe I should implement a “wishlist” with various Malts I´d like to taste 🙂

Go for it.
Nice new logo by the way. Very dynamic.

Thanks, but its really Billmon’s design – I just reengineered his logo – took some time but not much interlect and isn´t even finished yet.

You sure got us pegged. Our progressiveness is really repressed rethuglicanism and r’giap & slothrop are flaming conservatives in drag 🙂
Thinking about it – maybe I should implement a “wishlist” with various Malts I ́d like to taste 🙂
b, if there is a way to ship a case to you without it exploding or spoiling, I would love to share a little bit of organic VT with you. I’ll look into it. Send a message via Le Speakeasy on the “beer question” thread if you have any pertinent shipping info.

in fact juannie
i am lin piao in drag hidden in a midle sized french town. i did a deal with the lads in the central committee & my old pal-in-arms mao & chou & with the money i had accepted from the russian revisionist clique i was able to set up a small winery where i only make red wines – very red wines
& yes it is true – i am known to wear a dress to imitate an old empress i once knew who also didn’t like change
& surely, slothrop is in fact harold bloom slimmed down to a few books published by verso or is the other bloom brother, boom boom bloom as he was known down in chicago where he was with the other gangsters
& if i’m correct deanander, is in fact a sort of fusion between v i lenine & krupskuya with just a little touch of bukharin & jérôme, self evidently, our robespierre

Posted by: remembereringgiap | Jun 3 2005 23:26 utc | 61

New techniques of cultural reproduction can expose and vivify formerly hidden political possibilities in culture, just like a nice dress can expose to anyone who cares to notice, how pretty I think I am; though, not as poretty as brroke shields, but prttier than stan van gundy.

I like the new comments list. It is great.
It does look like I am not the only one to loose my personal info quite often. As I purge my cookies rather often, I would not care if it was just me, but that does not seem to be the case here. If you can look into that it would be great.
And good work and all of that. Still read here a lot, though I have had much less time to comment the last few months.

Posted by: A swedish kind of death | Jun 5 2005 1:36 utc | 63

@ASKD – that personal info is stored in a cookie on your computer. If that cookie is gone because you or your browser software delete it, its gone. The blogsoftware can help as it doesn´t store such information. Sorry.

I suspected something like that, though I wasn´t sure. Now I know where to look (at my cookie-settings) when the personal info disappears. Thanks.

hmm – I changed some things now
– fixed the trackback – though that design is not yet good
– the new logo is up
— are two boddles ok?
— what shoud be written on them?
— is the logo too agressiv?
— too big?
– the “preview” page is still a mess – sorry, it’s controlled by typepad and that makes it dfficult to change
– some sizes and borders were changed – how does it feel to look at the site now in your favorite browser?
– any suggestion?
– commentators list is expanded to 80 entries after I found out that it doesn´t take up much download time
– for you: is the site slow to load or fast?
– the comment page was widened a bit – any problem for anyone from this?

Posted by: b | Jun 5 2005 23:09 utc | 66

This is working better – last time I posted & hit preview my text showed up against the dark blue background which made it virtually unreadable. Fine now.
As for the logo, do miserable times call for another bottle or two…say one lying on it’s side!!!

to have “the complete contributions of XXXXX” readily
at hand. It’s so easy to use and
handy I’m wondering if it was always there and I just missed it.
These (and the longer wider
contributions list) are minor
but useful improvements. At this point I’m tempted to say
to “freeze it for another year”,
although I would second Annie’s preference for “Open Thread” at the top. All in all “the best
just got better”.

@annie
The Open Thread box is back at the left top, though reduced to the last two entries.
@Hannah
The Google Box is now some six month on the right side. I only lifted it up a bit 🙂

Hi, Bernhard.
I have a request for you — in the right-hand panel on Moon of Alabama there is the “recent postings” list. Like others I use this to catch up on activity since I last visited.
The links there are dark red, but unfortunately they don’t change color to show that I have already visited the thread. Could you try to add a “visited” style and color to the “#right a” style in the stylesheet?

Could comments have titles there too? Ie. a title box when you comment. Metaconverse is nice.

howzabout a digest version for barflys who spend a few days away in the country & return to their favorite watering hole only to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of posts & drunks… 😉 geez, i’ll have to take another week off just to catch up on all the threads.
diggin’ the changes though, b.
