Shorter Tom Friedman

See my piece on Friedman’ s OpEd here. Which boot-camp are his daughters in?

The good news, of course, is that replicants don’t live very long, and Howie’s already past his pull date. The Post is about due for a replacement.

And, apparently, Mr. Friedman’s goal is to create a delusionary increase in self-stagure by creating an out and out mini-me sized Rumskullian One….
Which is further reinforced by this.
In an interview with Sir David Frost on BBC2’s Newsnight last night, Mr Rumsfeld was asked whether the security situation had improved since the day after the war ended.
“Well, statistically no. But clearly it has been getting better as we’ve gone along,” he replied.

Maybe it is too late, but before we give up on Iraq, why not actually try to do it right? Double the American boots on the ground and redouble the diplomatic effort to bring in those Sunnis who want to be part of the process and fight to the death those who don’t.

Don’t look now, but I think Friedman just came out in favor of genocide.

It’s mad, mad, mad-mad, maaaaaaad.
America was having trouble,
What a sad, sad story!
Needed a new leader to restore its former glory!
Where oh where was he?
Where could that man be?
We looked around
And then we found
A man for you and me!
And now it’s…
Dubya:
Springtime for Dubya and America!
The Homeland is happy and anything but gay!
Chorus:
We’re marching to a righteous pace
Look out – here comes God’s chosen race!
Springtime for Dubya and America!
Dubya:
Winter for Baghdad and Kabul!
Chorus:
Springtime for Dubya and America!
Now, Yankees, go into your dance!
Jose:
I was born in East L.A. and that is why they call me Rey!
Mel Brooks:
Don’t be stupid, be a smarty –
Come and join the Rethug party!
(instrumental interlude)
Chorus:
Springtime for Dubya and America!
(cash registers)
Two-step’s the new step today!
(gunshots, explosions)
Bombs falling from the skies again!
(bomb falling, explosion)
Freedom is on the rise again!
(cash registers)
Springtime for Dubya and America!
Guardsmen are fighting once more!
Springtime for Dubya and America!
Means that…
Soon we’ll be goin’,
We’ve got to be goin’,
You know we’ll be goin’
To war!

Please, citizen. “Genocide” is such a ROUND Earth term. On FLAT Earth this kind of simple, demographic adjustment is just one of the many ways in which the global economic elite….ooops, I mean the people…. can make the world more efficient and, well, global.

Dear BenA,
I read your column every day, and trust your advice completely. Please help me resolve a controversy with my social studies teacher: I said in class the other day that a “global” world must, by definition, be round. She pointed to the wall map on our classroom and asked, “Does that look round to you?
Everyone in class laughed at me, and now I’m not so sure. What is the globe anyhow?

Maybe it is too late, but before we give up on Iraq, why not actually try to do it right? Double the American boots on the ground …
I might actually go for it, if one those pairs of boots was fucking Tom Friedman’s.
Please help me resolve a controversy with my social studies teacher: I said in class the other day that a “global” world must, by definition, be round.
Why I bet you even believe in that theory of evulooshun mumbo jumbo.

@Billmon – since when do you lack satiric mind?
Is there something I don´t get here?

Billmon,
I resemble that accusation. Pistols at dawn!

God, how did he remember thirtysomething. I used to watch that show. Now that I look at the pictures of the actors I actually shrink in mild disgust- can’t imagine what I ever saw in it.
PS-citizen, of course the earth is flat. I have had school teachers tell my children that Greenland is bigger than Australia. Just look at the map!

citizen
of course, it’s flat & we are sailing off the end of it

Clever Tom Friedman,
While the rabble was bawling
Rode stately through Holborn
To die in his calling.
To bad we can’t send the denizens of America’s Grub Street-Downing Street, whatever, to the Tyburn tree–and a few higher estate gentle folk to the Tower, to be dealt with by the ax.
But we are civilized.
Anyway, Here’s Swift:

You haven’t heard – James Wolcott renamed the boy:
With a terrible, swift sword, Alexander Cockburn makes Pundit McNuggets out of the groovemaster of globalization, a man who has never met a cab driver he couldn’t quote to his prove his own point, yes, the inimitable Thomas Friedman.
Since I quoted him, as a courtesy I’ll link to him & let him provide link to Cockburn article.

I’ve found a very clever way
To solve a lot of problems we’re facing here today.
The only thing we need to do
Is deny reality, deny it’s really true!
I’ve started believing that
It’s a real fact, the Earth in fact is really flat!
And those who sail too far from land
Fall off the edge and never ever seen again!
It’s really such a simple device!
Just say that lies are truth and truth is lies
It doesn’t matter — nothing, nothing…

Tom Friedman is following an advanced form of small print journalism. As Mr. Waits says in Step Right Up
You got it buddy the large print giveth
and the small print taketh away
step right up
Okrent, Kinsley, the Post editorial, the Times editorial, they are all just playing step right up, where the small print taketh away – forget their day in day out page one headlines, forget Judith Miller, neo con whore of whores, they ran an articles or two inside the paper that those who paid attention could conncect the dots to realized Bush lied. The small print taketh away. Friedman just is an advanced whore – this day’s print revoketh last years print, so why bother with consistency or accountability?
