Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Billmon: Bring It On

Right now I’m picturing Shrub and the Bug Man up on the wall at the Alamo, looking out at Santa Anna’s army as line after line of soldiers move into position for the attack.

"Bring ’em on," Shrub screams as the bugles blare out the deguello — the traditional call that signifies no prisoners will be taken.

"Damn straight, George. You tell ’em," croaks the Bug Man. "Ain’t no raggedy ass greaser army gonna git inside this here fort. Nosirreebob."

Houston, we have a problem…
DeLay is losing support, poll finds

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s footing among his constituents has slipped drastically during the past year and a majority of his district disapproves of how he handled the Terri Schiavo case, according to a Houston Chronicle poll.
Nearly 40 percent of the 501 voters questioned Wednesday through Friday said their opinion of the powerful Sugar Land Republican is less favorable than last year, compared with 11 percent who said their view of him has improved.
Half of the respondents gave DeLay a somewhat or very favorable rating.
Yet 49 percent said they would vote for someone other than DeLay if a congressional election in the 22nd District were at hand; 39 percent said they would stick with him.

Billmon’s picture is going to require photoshop because, unless there’s a plastic turkey somewhere, his Twigness is sure to be nowhere near any real firing line.
After all, he no longer has to consider shooting out his eardrum with a shotgun or joining a champagne unit because, these days, his minions can just crank up the whirlitzer to fool most of the people all of the time by pretending the frontline is a few miles west of, oh say, San Diego.

lupin – excellent diary. provocative and realistic. considering a move to france or mexico myself these days. was feeling like a traitor for even considering it, but i am beginning to think it makes a lot more sense than staying here paying taxes which are no longer spent to support the people of this country. thank you for writing it and for cross posting. the volume of diaries on kos is sometimes just too daunting to someone who is working full-time and going to school. hope all goes well for you in france. after my last trip there (to nantes) i can’t imagine that having all that wonderful non gm food and wine available 24/7 would make for a difficult adjustment. it is actually the cost of food in the us (at least in nyc) that has put me over the edge. i was in whole foods last week and they wanted $2.79 for a head of organic lettuce. i was in a korean grocer’s today and the man ahead of me only bought 2 limes because the price was too high. it is just a matter of time before only the wealthy will be able to afford to eat non gm food. i also found nantes to b be a most gracious and welcoming place. hope you are having a similar experience.

On another issue, Cheney said he backed efforts to help save Terri Schiavo’s life, but strongly disagreed with House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), who wants retribution against judges who blocked restoration of her feeding tube.
“I don’t think that’s appropriate . . . There’s a reason why judges get lifetime appointments,” he said.

And judging by the number of frequent flyer miles the Bug Man has been racking up on Air Egomania lately, he’s got one hell of a fall coming to him. I’m not even sure Satan has a circle of hell that deep, although I’m sure Halliburton would be happy to dig one if the terms were right.
good stuff! needed a grin this morning.

If only it were true.
I see lots of people predicting delay’s demise- I’m not so sure. I think that he’s going to be extremely difficult to kill (metaphorically of course), just like the common cockroach.
And sadly, there are plenty of americans who agree with him.

Lupin, I just went back and read your diary and your conversation with Armando.
I’m with you 100%. The nazi analogies first cropped up for me before the war started. I was rereading Shirer’s Berlin Diary and the parallels jumped off the pages.
A fascist is a fascist is a fascist. It doesn’t matter what they call themselves.
BTW, when Tom Delay speaks, all I hear is, “Ack ack!! Ack ackk!!”

4lgs, Lenin’s g.: to both, thank you.
Armando’s continued ability to STILL get shocked and outraged by the fascists’ behavior is a comstant source of amazement to me, I confess.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they reinstated slavery. Come to think of it that’s what the bankruptcy reform almost accomplishes.

Lupin, If only things just suddenly would go back where they were after the fascists go…
It’s never the same and it’s always so hard to go back to normal…not to mention those who are actually killed and it’s no way back or forward for them and their families.
Then again it always take a World to organize against the fascists. They are not going to go without fight…till the very end…
