Judgement Day

It's all about "taking back" the country. And, as with most radicalized movements, it's not at all clear where they would draw the line.

Which is why when I hear Sen. Cornyn ranting about "foreign influence" in the U.S. legal system, it makes me very nervous. Cornyn may be just another pompous hack, but that kind of talk reminds me too much of another right-wing politician who also promised a "purging of the nation, and particularly of the intellectual classes, of influences of foreign origin."

"It is fashionable to wax apocalyptic about the threat to humanity posed by the AIDS virus, 'mad cow' disease, and many others, but I think a case can be
made that faith is one of the world's great evils, comparable to the smallpox virus but harder to eradicate." -- Richard Dawkins

The bashing of "activist judges" is going full force on conservative talk radio. In particular I am hearing a lot of this from Mark Levin, who has also written a book on the subject.

"We are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government ... our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors -- in short, over every aspect and institution of human society"
It would be funny if it wasn't so worrying. but apparently they're trying to beat each other at making Nazi-like declarations. As if we needed another proof that they fully intend to top both Horbiger and Lyssenko in scientific nutcasisms while destroying every little remain of sane scientism in the entire society.

As for courts takind advice abroad, there were several judgments of the Supreme Court that quoted foreign courts, notably the European court for human rights (or however it's named) - it was either cases about death penalty for specific people, or about Bush new model gulag.

"as with most radicalized movements, it's not at all clear where they would draw the stop line"
I was under the impression that history was crystal-clear on this matter. There is NO stopping line, at least none that isn't imposed by outside forces.

Foreign influence? Hey religious righties: You're soaking in it! I think by now most intelligent beings have taken the time to see the wide and powerful influence Sun Myung Moon has had on our religious right and feckless Crusading Shrub! Add to that the more visible actions of his second in command, Dr. Bo Hi Pak, long an agent of the Korean CIA. While Moons hawks his abstinence program funded with Bush tax dollars to our kids (and to let a Moonie near my kids gives the shudders, as it does any reasonable child of the 1970's), Bo Hi Pak doles out money of unknown origins in the millions to various figures of the religious right through Moons numerous charitable, political, edications and evangelical front organizations. The list is large enough to make anyone dizzy and probably has its own file room in the government offices of the Cayman Islands, were a host are registered. A lot of this money, now in the hundreds of millions of dollars (especially if we include Mooon's infamous bailout of Jerry Falwell to the tune of $73,000,000 back in 1989 and another $4,000,000 to Liberty College) has come from right wing groups in Japan and Korea and not from Moon's corporations. I often wonder if our own debt dollars are coming back to haunt us from this freak! I have read liberal reports that as far back as 1994 called him the "Achilles heel" of the religious right. But few know the name Moon now unless they are either sold out to him (as Bush Sr. and Bush Jr are) or remember his antics and controversies in the 1970's and early 80's. The goal of Moon is similar to the Religious Right and Kennedy's quote sounds like its right out of the Moon "Godism playbook. I've provided a link or two for the interested. The last one is a list of Moonies front organizations. It makes interesting reading. As I went through the list I had no idea that Moon financed the Box Office Bomb, Inchong!

wow diogenes 73 million? big number. even for Jerry.

In case you hadn't picked it up, and it WAS a small short item a year or so ago, some of the shady folks involved in florida flight schools etc before and after 9/11 (complicated story) also had assets in Lynchburg airport. This is convenient because Lynchburg is very safe; any business can operate with no scrutiny. AND oddly it is Jerry's hometown - he owns Lib U.

I can't go into a lot of detail here because it has been awhile; the point is that some of the hijacker bullshit leads to Lynchburg where Jerry controls a lot of money. Take it from there.
