Great program and sad situation. I recommend to inflate the Dollar until those campaign contribution reserves are worthless. That hostage taker would than have to give up.

Oh gosh, that was hilarious.
Billmon’s been away from blog-writing directly for some time, and in a couple of days he’s back at his best. That one was just too great.

He needs to be careful — he’s going to burn himself out again soon if he keeps up this pace – love having some Billmon to read every day, though.

“Ranch Davidians” is too rich… and I agree, he ought to pace himself… but us barflies know he won’t. Love ya, Barkeep. Rock on, Dear Heart.

I suspected Prof. Pluss was an invention – but apparently he does exist. His new position is certainly a product of Billmon’s imagination, however. And I would like to point out that Perry Como, one of my favorite singers and TV hosts when I was a child, was certainly not an “Anglo Saxon Protestant”.

Houston Stewart Chamberlain Chair in Advanced Eugenics at the Center for the Purification of Popular Culture
Here in Sweden we had a Rasbiological Institute from 1922 (first in the world) to 1956 (think it was the last to) when it changed name to “Institutionen för medicinsk genetik”, that is medical genetics. It has later changed name again, but I think it is now Institutionen för genetik och patologi at Uppsala University.
So technically it is the same chair, though the name and research has changed somewhat. At least I hope so.
