One-China Policy
I predicted that “Dubya” would maintain his father’s position on normalization with Red China, which he did, which is another reason why I never voted for him both times he ran. I suspect that when the time comes, Taiwan will be left “out in the cold” under “Dubya” if push comes to shove. Sec. of State Rice will do whatever Bush II tells her to do, without being an independent thinker, as smart as she is, & Rice is on record as favoring the LOST (Law of the Sea Treaty) granting the UN jurisdiction over international waters. Red China has been using much of her received trade surplus from misguided American consumers & applying it to building up her military, especially her navy, which threatens our former superiority in that part of the world since WWII.
Red China may never attack Taiwan as it would not want to lose any possible in-roads into Taiwan’s superiority when it comes to computer development industries, until the mainland can replicate those industries instead. The Taiwanese should be very security-conscious of those computer & electronic businesses unless the Reds would try to steal those. But, alas, IBM has already sold a good portion of its domestic computer divisions to a Red Chinese company recently so the Red Chinese are playing a game of economic chess against us, & winning, unfortunately…

Datamining the NSA? From boing boing
Johannes writes, “One of the guys from Quintessenz, an Austrial civil rights organization, subscribed himself under a fake identity to an NSA internal mailing list about biometrics in 1994. he stored all the info and — because the admin had some problems while migrating the list to another server — even could download secret data. They are now datamining the NSA list and publishing the list and the results.”
Holy shit! so someone can just sign up for the NSA mailing list? National security indeed…

I am posting off topic, but there is a real shitstorm going on about Greenspeak. Harry Reid called him the biggest political hack in Washington and the internet and news site are really buzzing. Krugman followed up today in the New York Times. Theres even an article on CBS Marketwatch that agrees with Reid. Daily Kos is buzzing, everywhere Geenspeak is getting either drubbed or lightly defended.
Greenspeak has gotten a little to political and that a no,no for the Fed cheif. Greenspeak sday as a deciple of Aynn Rand is coming back to haunt him.

Regarding Arash Cigarachi (the blogger) he has said himself (from the letter N, also her translation from persian)

“in truth the biggest portion of the accusations against me pertained to Radio Farda. You will be interested to know that some of it had to also do with the sounds broadcast during the time of my interview. I was doing the interview with a pen name and then suddenly they would announce that were doing an interview with Arash Cigarchi. Believe me I placed no hope in them [radio farda] and I still dont…I don’t expect anything from radio stations but it might not be a bad idea if a movement developed that familiarized them with their responsibilities to those of us who face a thousand dangers in Iran.”

Radio Farda being the persian equivalent of Radio Sawa, I guess the question is once again Screw Up Or Plan?

Billmon could also have quoted the part of the Satanic Verses where the whole of Iranian people is eaten up by the giant head of Khomeiny, which kind of fits with his Kronos pic.
