Billmon: Trouble Back in Bedrock

Kos posted. No need to recommend this one, I think…

Sorry to say:
It´s interesting but irrelevant. Gannan/Guckert is OUT. He was just a low to medium operational. He has nothing to do with the background schemes.
Good find by Billmon but it doesn´t help us to answer the questions:
– Who payed/pays for Gannon/Talon News, GOPUSA?
– Who leaked the (probably even false) Plame memo to Gannon?
We need to answer these questions! Pressing on McCullen for admitting Gannon will not give us any help in these and we don´t have the real abilities to do that anyway. The White House press corp has to keep that ball rolling.
Lets concentrate of our abilities and go to work.
– How is GOPUSA financed?
– What is the shortest connection between GOPUSA and Karl Rove’s or Dick Cheney’s desk?
– Are there any dates/places where the people in shortest connection have/could have meet that may allow us a break into the shield?

b – I would tend to agree, but it was just too irresistible an occasion to “feed the sharks”, so to speak.
Actually, one of the commenters had an interesting comment: this should have come up in the background checks required to get the pass to the WH press room. What happened with these checks. Now this may be relevant – did anyone help to organise the avoidance of the procedures?

Bernhard is right, and with billmon’s broadcasting of Guckert’s SSI number, the pathetic wretch now has to worry about identity theft. Granted, the document, and so the SSI, were publicly available, but billmon should do the right thing and take the document down or redact it to limit the damage.

i was under the assumption that when guckert was citing received death threats as his reason for retreating from the public, those threats were coming from bushCo. his cover has been blown now, i don’t identity theft is his main concern here. i’d recommend that he stay off the roof of official buildings.

@ralphbon – if it was open source what Billmon posted (I think it was) I am fine with it – SoSec number or not.
But what is to gain by following Gannon. He has lost his job and a lot of future perspective and dreams. Sorry ass.
Lets get those who profited by his work.

I really shouldn’t be so heartless but I don’t give a flying fuck for Gannon/Gucker. He made his bed and now can sleep in it. This is like sobbing for some thug who got whacked.

Pretty sure that he can get a new SSN:

If it was good enough for Al Capone, it’s good enough for Mr. G.
It’s not like Billmon paid someone to tell him G’s SSN. Let’s not pretend that someone’s SSN is somehow hard to get.

You should help the poor guy Observer; he may not know how.

Posted by: rapt | Feb 10 2005 22:48 utc | 10

It’s all in the open.

Well, it was fun while it lasted…

Olbermann said: “The scandal that keeps giving.” I expect to see mr. guckert in a centerfold any month now to cover his debts. Do ya think? Anyway, Viva Valerie! Let’s keep our eyes on the ball.

“Yurtle the Turtle” on the Whiskey Bar. O my God. Maybe should be O my Rove.

even the two guys who do the evening blues program at our little community radio station here were commenting on the gannon/guckert story tonite. it’s really amazing how much well-deserved attention it has received.

I think its great that the bloggers outed this asshole. You best believe if this was a dem Limblohard would be screaming to high heaven. These righties deserve all they get and don’t even feel sorry for them. Now is time to go for the kill. Find all the right wing talkers and commentators that used Talon as a source and smear them.
The regressive conservatives would do the same. Rove wants a permanent rethug majority, its time to fight back and hard. An event like this can give some mo and help turn the tide. Ok, ok, maybe I’m to excited, but, its never to early to plan.

I guess Mr. G couldn’t invoke a reporter’s right to protect his sources at the Plame grand jury, since he wasn’t a real reporter.

Find all the right wing talkers and commentators that used Talon as a source and smear them.
Media Matters has identified a couple of them. As you probably guessed, they are among the usual suspects.
