Billmon: Room at the Top

Is this a fact, Jérôme? If so, it means either that Card has lost standing–and I find this hard to imagine–or that he’s preparing to resign his post. If indeed he resigns his post, then Bush will be without an effective traffic manager. And Bush needs an effective traffic manager at least as much as he needs an attack dog.

b,
I think the link on this one is incorrect. It directs me back to Billmon’s last post: Billmon: Credit Where Credit is Due

Juannie – should be corrected now, thanks.

I’m not out looking for them but I think the following is the corrected link for Billmon’s Post
John DiIulio Interview with Esquire magazine Fall, 2005 (2003)
Couldn’t get the link to work:

annie – I never heard “the scream” so I can’t see what all the fuss is about. As far as I’m concerned we should all be screaming bloody murder.

Is it possible that Card is taking the rap for the Plame outing? I have to assume that SOMETHING is going on in the misty depths of that case.

beq, i was actually in the room the night of the scream. i couldn’t hear it. i have never seen a crowd go so wild. totally wild. dean just let go and tried to match us. they must have isolated the sound from the mic or something to get the recording, because i couldn’t hear him over the audience. dean has a certain magic, if you ever get a chance to hear him speak, go. he’s intoxicating.
rapt , my theory is that it’s a given everything that goes on in the pressroom is all vetted first and rove’s priority is media and message, ” Where’s Karl? we’d wonder. The line was always ‘Oh, he’s out ruining careers.’ ” from the suskind article. that’s his thing so it seems natural that he would pick a total nobody (gannon) to do the job on plame. it’s a given that talon is just one of their setups
“at the administration’s six-month senior-staff retreat, DiIulio writes that “an explicit discussion ensued concerning how to emulate more strongly the Clinton White House’s press, communications, and rapid-response media relations—how better to wage, if you will, the permanent campaign that so defines the modern presidency regardless of who or which party occupies the Oval Office.” it’s all rove. and even thou gannon is gone from the website they are still pumping out articles, now w/ eberle’s name. i bet rove just asks blackwell to throw him a few bones from his ‘school’once in a while. there’s probably a whole slew of nobodies salivating to take gannon’s place. billmon’s got a new post on gannon.
