Billmon: A Vison of Democracy

Billmon on how other nations adopt the Bush vision of democracy.

Comments

People are now confronting the most important issues of the millennium: war and peace, life and death. Yet who is shaping the discourse? Generals, corporate executives, and government officials.

Benjamin: Empire is the style of revolutionary terrorism, for which the state is an end in itself.
All those Bush inagural platitudes notwithstanding.

Billmon, if you’re reading comments, along with the preznit’s quote about “spending your money wisely” you should add a quote about the new american embassy in Baghdad, at a price tag of $1.5 billion.
Link Bush to seek $80 billion
The money quote is here:
Aides said about three-fourths of the $80 billion was expected to be for the Army, which is bearing the brunt of the fighting in Iraq. It also was expected to include money for building a U.S. embassy in Baghdad, which has been estimated to cost $1.5 billion.
(emphasis added to increase everyone’s disgust and amazement)
