Go back a few posts to Billmon’s “Murphy’s Law, where he speculated that some key economic reports may be leaking out early and that the CEA may be one of the recipients.
If Mankiw is really that much of a whore, could he have given Rove a heads up in time to pump up the terror news (Pakistan/London/Albany/Chicago) in advance of this bad economic news, so they could change the message of the day from “Turning the Corner on the Economy” to “Turning the Corner on Terrorism”?
