Billmon: Fear Strikes Out

Moon thread for Fear Strikes Out.

Where is everyone? Hello?? Anyone see “The Daily Show” last night? Great clips of chimpy saying 8 times in 32 minutes “…we have made America safer!!” Jon Stewart made him look almost as ridiculous as Michael Moore did in F911…good stuff!

I was wondering if anyone was going to vet this:

…the role played by the Vice President’s wife, who came out, so to speak, at the last minute and said she thought this whole marriage business ought to be left to the states.

Which is interesting:
–Not because she disagrees with her husband.
–Not because her daughter is lesbian.
–And not because republicans will play the state’s right game when it suits them and argue against it when it suits them not…
But it is interesting because it is fun to imagine: What if it were so?
Which states would ban gay marriage and which would not? And how would that deci$ion effect them?
I’d be one hell of an experiment that’s for sure. And I’ve got a scenario at play in my head but I won’t bore you…
Instead…In regards to what Billmon has called a “phoney debate” there was this from our learned President:

President Bush said in his weekly radio address Saturday that legalizing gay marriage would redefine the most fundamental institution of civilization.

Will no blog artist cry “bullshit bullshit bullshit”?
You want to define the fundamental institution of civilization?
How about we start with: The rule of law.

I thought that “Fear Strikes Out” was in danger of striking out so I thought to post an explanation of just what “they” fear.
“Pixel, you see, is a female pony, which means that technically speaking, she and Mark in Missouri have actually enjoyed a stable, heterosexual relationship. A ban on same-sex marriage would do nothing to prevent them joining in holy matrimony. Only the FARM act can save the republic from that travesty.”

@beq:
Priceless
Everyone ought to read about poor Pixel.
I could share with you the court testimony that
occured in the fifties in a jurisdiction in the
South(Good Old US of A), in a bestiality case.
Equally priceless. But I won’t, cause it’s way
over the freaking top OT.

@beg
😀 You’re probably right, it also explains the glaring loophole that would allow hetero bestiality. The constipated, closet cases, that are the ultra-right wing of the Repub party need to loosen up a bit. Then maybe they could let go of the viagra, and the kinky-sex with animals thing and lead a more balanced, normal life.
And, the FARM act sounds like a much better use of the congress’ time than the gay-marriage ban.

OT, but happy Bastille Day! May we recall the uprising of the people against the oppressve powers that be, and perhaps take inspiration. The British got to lead off the parade in Paris this morning.
Allons, enfants de la patrie..

alabama and I prequelled Billmon with some thoughts on this one. We had them over at the “Play it as it DeLays” thread, if anybody’s interesting in reading them.

@Sukabi+ Beq,
It’s typical that Texas Rethug Conrynn screwed up
his metaphor about gay sex
and box turtles. That would constitute a hetereosexal relationship. After all, it is a “box” turtle.
