This Washington Post Headline Is Fake News

On March 30 the Washington Post, the blog site of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, published a report about the expulsion of some 'western' diplomats from Russia. The move was an expected and proportional retaliation for the expulsion of Russian diplomats from some 'western' countries.

The piece was originally published under the headline:

One by one Russia tells European ambassadors of latest diplomatic expulsions

This is visible in the web-address (URL) of the piece which was formed from the original headline when it was first published.

.../washingtonpost.com/world/europe/one-by-one-russia-tells-european-ambassadors-of-latest-diplomatic-expulsions/2018/03/30/...

The editors apparently disliked the original headline. It was factually correct but did not create enough reason to hate Russia. The original headline was therefore replaced with a factually false one:

bigger

One by one, European ambassadors learn they’re being expelled from Russia

For the record: "They", i.e. the ambassadors, learned of no such thing. Russia has not expelled any ambassador. The report below the false headline does not claim that Russia did such.

The blatant falsehood of the headline was immediately pointed out in the comments to the piece. The @WashingtonPost Twitter account was notified of the 'mistake'.

Three days later the Post has not taken any corrective action. The fake news headline is still up on its website. Most visitors of the Washington Post site will not read the piece. They skim the headlines of the site and get a daily dosage of Russia-hate from it.

The slogan of the Post, prominently displayed under its name, is "Democracy Dies in Darkness". When it peddles such sable propaganda it becomes obvious that the paper hates democracy and an informed public. To curry favor with thuggish tyrants, as Post owner Bezos does, is obviously more profitable than factual reporting.

The next time the Post laments about fake news and asks for censoring blogs like ours, the above shall be thrown into its face.

The phrase "democracy dies in darkness" actually makes sense when you realize they are expressing it as a triumph.

But since Bezos and MBS can't go to hell because the Pope says it doesn't exist, it is all good, right?

Can I have more myth, propaganda and BS please.........../snark

A fat man in a suit with a hairy face, and a bald leprechaun with a too tight suit and shirt, laughing at each other.

Are we supposed to believe they rule over us?

One has to wonder if it's a mere coincidence that Jeff Bezos looks more and more like Lex Luthor, or if he's doing it on purpose.

"They skim the headlines of the site and get a daily dosage of Russia-hate from it."

MSM controls the general thought of the majority of any so called western democracy.
The people around me, and those I call friends that are my friends, do not take an interest in geo-politics. Like I was when raising my family, to busy to do the research required.

I have watched them change from prior to MH17 thinking US biggest threat to world peace to 'well we need US to protect us from Russia and China'.
The majority pick up their news from from the news spot that interrupts other TV viewing, or from the news section that interrupts the music on the radio while they are working.
In the fake democracies most commenting here live in, it is the majority that are influenced by this crap that counts.

The fat slob in the WH may have to begin to worry!
Starting by shaving of 30 billion of Bezo's fortune and starting a trade war with china that sent Wall Street to two years low, he has a lot of ill feelings coming his way.
He will be removed, the Mega Rich lost a lot of money.

how about sinclair news, are these guys still acceptable?

Posted by: Sabine | Apr 3, 2018 6:22:35 AM | 10

what i really want to know is who is making money of shorting Amazon stock? :) But yeah, fake news, fake news is everywhere, but luckily for us we have here, to tell us the real news, the not fake news, the honest news, ......right?

Posted by: Sabine | Apr 3, 2018 6:24:42 AM | 11

I actually do not see much difference between the initial and improved title in WP. I was more impressed how the latest concoction of UK government was plied on two sides of the ocean with Sinclear-like uniformity, with minor local variations. To wit, smearing door handle was such a dangerous method that it proves personal approval of Putin. From quasi-proofs to monuments of non-sequitur.

And, for their eternal shame, fake-newsers in social media and here dare to doubt that nonsense.

Clueless Joe @ 4, your observation that Jeff Bezos resembles Lex Luthor is spot on. You just missed General Zod on Bezos' left-hand side.

I highly recommend an article posted today on telepolis.de | Parallelen zwischen Salisbury und dem deutschen Plutonium-Skandal 1994? which is I think is highly relevant.

Unfortunately for our international guests there is no English translation, but maybe a google translate could produce something usable?

Washinton Compost.

Lex Luthor has much more mana than bezos who comes across as wimpy as his royal offsider in the pic. Lets face it the royalty also appears to be scum who would quiver into a ball of jelly at the first sight of someone visiting upon them what they demand be visited upon innocent others.

The unwritten truce between most political leaders must be ended, both Saddam Hussein and my personal hero Muammar Gaddafi, discovered that the deal to not knock political leaders is ignored when fukusi decide it can be. The freedom fighters of the ME should scrap the old arrangements and quit the unwarranted attacks on western innocents - we have seen time after time that western leaders like it when some Jo/Joe Blow is turned into a pink mist, they get to be even more dictatorial, and go back to tors by killing western leaders in well planned targeted attacks.
I doubt many normal humans would care a jot if it were the arsehole hack pols getting knocked but the arsehole hacks would care and find a 'better alternatyive' quickly once they discovered they were gonna be held personally accountable for the evil they do.

Yes, it is interesting. It basically describes how BND smuggled Plutonium into Germany accusing Russia in 1994 - for strategic reasons like the US getting control of Russia's nuclear production, but also domestic reasons like Kohl looking good before the elections. And Russia playing along.

But this time, surely, they can't have counted on Russia playing along?

The Donald certainly has it in for Bezos. AMZN has been slipping a lot lately. He says it isn't personal and accuses Bezos of tax evasion, putting retailers out of business and abusing the US Postal Service but most people think anti-Trump articles in the Washington Post have something to do with it. Interesting feud to watch. Almost as interesting as watching Facebook flounder.

An excellent karmic outcome would be for Bezos to be bankrupted with the remnants of Amazon bought by Jack Ma.

Well, what a surprise - the experts at Porton Down are "unable to verify 'precise source of novichok'". according to the Guardian which must be choking on it's afternoon cuppa and biscuits. In fact Porton Down went further:

At this stage, with the work that we’ve done thus far, we’ve been able to establish that it’s novichok or from that family.

What family of chemicals does 'novichok' belong to? Organophosphates?
A number of thoughts:
I believe the Porton Down bloke when he says there was no way the chemical came from Porton Down.
It could be a Ukrainian plot to defame Russia.
Other possibilities are Saudi Arabia and UAE - after break with KSA, I doubt it's Qatar - designed to encourage US to go to war in Syria.
It could be a plot to depose Theresa May - she's starting to look out of her depth. Certain parts of the Conservative Party are vicious enough to go there.

Craig Murray on RT https://youtu.be/ZnEQxnYFLnw:

1) He was told this 2 weeks ago - Porton Down couldn't prove it was manufactured in/by Russia

2)Porton Down is likely revealing this conclusion prior to the OPCW meeting on the subject tomorrow to get ahead of and "manage the news"

3) Porton Down spox said it "probably" would need a state actor.

4) The "probable state actor" phrase appeared to be tacked on to the end, with a different camera angle, etc. Likely the UK handlers demanded this specific statement.

5) All lab notes and equipment went to US when Nukus, Uzbekistan labs were shut down

6) Porton Down spox didn't say they don't have the agent in-house, but that it can't leave there due to their security.

Bezos bought the WP to control the news on Amazon and his other big projects. Via WP he also connects with the CIA and Wall Street on geopolitical projects for which his WP provides cover and propaganda.

Bezos like many others in US elites are vermin.

I wonder how Trump's Trade War's being reported. Here's a report on its first victims: "the S&P 500 index fell 2.2 percent after the first trading session in the second quarter. This was only ever worse 89 years ago, when it fell by 2.5 percent." As the article notes, this is just the beginning.

Posted by: karlof1 | Apr 3, 2018 1:35:06 PM | 26

@26 It's like he's deliberately trying to crash the stock market. For sure a lot of Americans will be unhappy with their mutual fund statements this month.

Can't figure the Donald. He's so aggressive. Perhaps he's targeting China because they aren't helping him with N. Korea? Maybe he expects Xi to fold.

All part of Making America Great Again I guess.
