balanced view indeed,

Sept. 10 - Pentagon lost $2.3 trillion - guess where it gets hit on 9/11?

Rumsfeld said on September 10: "According to some estimates we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions"

CBS evening news

The next day, September 11, the Pentagon is hit. But where?

"The impact area included both the Navy operations center and the office complex of the National Guard and Army Reserve. It was also the end of the fiscal year and important budget information was in the damaged area."

-Arlington County After-Action Report

"Most of those killed in the office, called Resource Services Washington, were civilian accountants, bookkeepers and budget analysts. They were at their desks when American Airlines Flight 77 struck."

- South Coast Today/Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (12/20/01)

Nah, it's just another one of those strange coincidences that happened on 9/11, right?

We shouldn't suspect anything after the Pentagon announces it's lost track of $2.3 trillion and then just happens to have a terrorist strike on the newly renovated side where the accountants are sitting, right?

Just trying to get my groove back, here.

I've written before that it's never been enough, or even likely correct, to say Bush Knew. As usual, it's the under-examined things that suggest why that may be.

From The Longboat Observer,September 26, 2001 (and it's a surprise to see this still online; so many of mainstream stories that don't make an easy fit to the official fabrication have become dead links):

At about 6 a.m. Sept. 11, Longboat Key Fire Marshall Carroll Mooneyhan was at the front desk of the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort as Bush prepared for his morning jog. From that vantage point, Mooneyhan overheard a strange exchange between a Colony receptionist and security guard.

A van occupied by men of Middle Eastern descent had pulled up to the Colony stating they had a "poolside" interview with the president, Mooneyhan said. The self-proclaimed reporters then asked for a Secret Service agent by name. Guards from security relayed the request to the receptionist, who had not heard of either the agent or plans for an interview, Mooneyhan said.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, On Thursday, the House of Representatives will hold a debate on the Iraq war. Media reports say Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) “hopes to match the serious, dignified tone of deliberation that preceded the Gulf war, in 1991.” ThinkProgress has obtained a “Confidential Messaging Memo” from Boehner instructing his caucus to conduct a very different kind of deliberation. Here’s a quick summary:

cudo's uncle, that's some evening news. can't help thinking somebody really made out like a bandit when that plane struck the pentagon. horrible to imagine but jeez, 2.1 trillon, that could pay for a lot. that's one hell of a cover up, bet it could pay for a mighty big secret operation. almost like a private war or something. reminds me of the tom waits song again,,, what's he building in there???

Of course it's what he's afraid of.

Just like he and the rest of the Caballeros are afraid of a little old lady named Helen Thomas.

Uncle Scam, re. 9/11

I have always thought that the fake assasination attempt and perhaps the coded call as well were just other parts of the ‘shock and awe’ scenario that was to take place that day. Another was the plane that was supposed to slam into building 7 (and was even announced at one point if I recall correctly.) The organisation was all a bit confused, for a large part, because it simply did not matter. The people on the ground, the media, and so on, reacted variously , and one story or another was taken up, or not. They all knew, that is, immediately understood, that the scenario was ‘terrorists flying into WTC’ and pieces that did not fit that scenario or were frills or unclear, etc. were simply left aside. I can even imagine Bush putting the kibosh on ‘terrorists tried to kill the president’ - it is a little ridiculous, and besides, was completely unecessary. Some bright wag’s idea of gilding the lily...some loose cannons getting into the act... etc.

And 2 point some trillion missing from a Defense Budget in the US is not such staggering news.
